Stardew Valley 1.6 launched on PC on March 19, 2024, and on console and mobile on November 4, 2024. ConcernedApe announced the PC date first, then set a later date for the console and mobile ports. Both dates are in the past.

When did Stardew Valley 1.6 come out?

Platform Announcement Release date Version noted
PC February 26, 2024 March 19, 2024 1.6
Console and mobile September 22, 2024 November 4, 2024 1.6.9

ConcernedApe announced the PC date in a Steam Community post on February 26, 2024, Stardew Valley’s eighth anniversary. The game’s official site confirmed on March 19 that the update was out on PC; console and mobile versions were still in development at that point.

On September 22, ConcernedApe announced November 4 for the console and mobile ports, writing: “The console and mobile ports of the 1.6 update will be released on November 4th, 2024.” The post identified those ports as version 1.6.9 and said that version would also come to PC around that time. Read the official announcement.

Why are there two release dates?

The update rolled out in stages rather than launching on every platform at once. March 19 was the PC release date; November 4 was the later date announced for console and mobile. The dates are not competing estimates for a single launch.

Did players need to start a new save?

No. ConcernedApe said the update would work with existing save files, while recommending a new save to experience the new content in context. Starting over was advice, not a requirement.

What else did the PC announcement say?

The February 26, 2024 announcement said Stardew Valley had sold over 30 million copies at that time. That is a dated figure from the announcement, not a current sales total.
