The land-vehicle update mentioned alongside it was a separate, earlier release: Bethesda added the REV-8 in a free update on August 15, 2024. Neither is a new 2026 release.
What Shattered Space adds
Shattered Space takes players to Va’ruun’kai, the home world of House Va’ruun. A vortex has devastated much of Dazra, and the expansion’s story follows the catastrophe and the House Va’ruun survivors. Bethesda describes the setting as handcrafted. Bethesda’s launch guide announced the September 30, 2024 release for Xbox Series X|S and PC; its September 30 update notes subsequently confirmed the expansion was included with update 1.14.70.

How to access and start the expansion
The following purchase and upgrade routes come from Bethesda’s 2024 launch guide; they describe launch-era access, not guaranteed current storefront terms. Check the relevant store for current edition details.
- Premium or Constellation Edition: Owners were entitled to the expansion.
- Standard Edition: Bethesda listed the Digital Premium Upgrade as a purchase route.
- Game Pass: Subscribers could upgrade to access the expansion.
To begin, complete the main quest “One Small Step.” Then make a grav-jump to an orbit that is not already being used by a mission or encounter. A distress call there leads to The Oracle and starts the expansion’s opening sequence. Bethesda recommended level 35 for the best experience, while noting that players at any level could try it. Bethesda’s launch guide provides these instructions.

What the REV-8 update added
Bethesda released the REV-8 in a free Starfield update on August 15, 2024—before Shattered Space launched. To use it, install the vehicle module through a ship technician in a city. After landing, deploy the vehicle outside your ship. Bethesda’s update post lists a mounted turret, armor, boosters for speed and jumping, and color customization. Read Bethesda’s REV-8 update notes.
REV-8 and Moon Jumper are different vehicles
Bethesda Support’s current vehicle FAQ lists both the REV-8 and Moon Jumper. The support page says the Moon Jumper became available with the Free Lanes update and is designed to help reach elevated areas. The REV-8’s launch announcement, by contrast, highlights its turret, armor, boosters, and customization. Bethesda Support’s vehicle FAQ is the source for the current roster reference and Moon Jumper’s traversal role.
