How to choose among the picks
- For horror: Resident Evil Requiem is the shortlist’s survival-horror choice.
- For role-playing: Compare Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes Phantom Liberty according to the roundup, with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
- For strategy: Consider Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era or Mewgenics. Olden Era was in Early Access during the sale.
- For simulation: The selection includes Two Point Museum and Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories.
- For exploration and platforming: Hollow Knight: Silksong is the Metroidvania option.
Discount size alone is not a measure of quality or fit. Use genre and the kind of game you want to play as the main filters; treat the old price snapshots only as context for what the sale offered.

What the sale dates mean for shoppers now
Valve’s official announcement gives the 2026 Steam Summer Sale dates as June 25 through July 9 and identifies the event as digital-only. As of October 8, 2026, it is over, so check Steam directly rather than relying on a sale-period figure for today’s price.
Valve’s Steamworks documentation describes seasonal sales as broad store events and says discounts of 20% or more trigger wishlist email notifications. It also says featured placement depends on factors such as game tags, popularity, and user recommendations; being featured is not a guarantee of quality or the lowest price. Valve lists the 2026 Autumn Sale for October 1–8 and the Winter Sale for December 17, 2026–January 4, 2027. Those dates do not imply that Summer Sale prices will return.
