Steam’s September 2026 hardware survey lists the desktop GeForce RTX 5070 as its leading individual GPU entry at 6.15%. It also lists AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT, so the old claim that RDNA 4 is missing from the survey is no longer accurate. These percentages describe surveyed Steam users—not GPU sales, benchmark performance, or the wider PC market.
What Steam’s September 2026 GPU list shows
On Steam’s September 2026 video-card distribution, the desktop GeForce RTX 5070 is listed at 6.15%, the highest individual GPU entry shown. Steam lists the GeForce RTX 5060 at 4.40% and RTX 5060 Ti at 4.06%.

The RTX 5070’s displayed share rose from 3.77% in August to 6.15% in September, a change of 2.38 percentage points. The RTX 5060 rose by 1.24 points and the RTX 5060 Ti by 1.51 points over the same displayed interval. Steam’s page reports these changes; it does not identify a cause for them.
The 6.15% figure is for the desktop RTX 5070 entry, not the separately listed RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. “On top” here means the highest individual entry in Steam’s listed distribution, not the best-performing or best-selling GPU.

RDNA 4 is no longer absent from Steam’s named entries
Steam’s September list includes the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT at 1.42%, down 0.04 percentage points from August’s 1.46%, and the RX 9060 XT at 0.77%, down 0.03 points from 0.80%. Their presence means the earlier “RDNA 4 is still MIA” framing is outdated if it means those cards were absent from Steam’s published named GPU entries.
The older claim came from a PC Gamer article published September 2, 2025, discussing Steam’s August 2025 survey. Its observation that RDNA 4 cards did not appear among the top 100 referred to that earlier snapshot, not the September 2026 list.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What Steam’s hardware survey measures—and what it does not
Steam describes its survey as a monthly collection of data about the hardware and software its customers use, and says participation is “optional, and anonymous.” The results are therefore a snapshot of participating Steam users.
- It does show: the listed GPU entries and their reported distribution among surveyed Steam users for that month.
- It does not show: worldwide PC GPU market share, retail sales, units shipped, benchmark results, or whether one card is better value than another.
- It does not explain: why a GPU’s percentage changed. The survey page does not attribute the RTX 5070’s September increase to price, supply, geography, or a particular product launch.
For performance or value comparisons between the RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9000 cards, survey percentages are not enough; those questions require comparable benchmark and current-price evidence.
The RTX 5070’s $549 figure is historical launch pricing
NVIDIA’s January 2025 launch announcement said the GeForce RTX 5070 would be available starting in February at $549, with Founders Edition availability through NVIDIA and models from add-in-card providers. That is launch-era pricing context, not confirmation of the card’s current retail price, stock, or value.
