The ships, level gates and rewards are different, so first identify which content you’re trying to reach.
Which new Borg systems do you mean?
| Content | Ship and level gate | What you do there |
|---|---|---|
| Talios-era Borg systems | Ops 35 and a Tier 9 Vi’dar to unlock the Vi’dar Talios | Fight level 36+ Borg probes for increased Inert Nanoprobes and progress toward the Borg Refinery. |
| Conqueror Borg systems | Ops 55+ Borg Sphere | Fight Conqueror Borg Suppressors and Obliterators, and progress through Maverick tasks and rewards. |
How to reach the Talios Borg probe systems
Unlock the Vi’dar Talios
Scopely’s Update 51 notes say the Talios is an anti-Borg combat ship for players level 35 and above. To unlock it, reach Ops 35, take the Vi’dar to Tier 9, and complete the mission “They Have Adapted.”
Use Talios research to extend access
The Talios has research that increases its warp range and the Inert Nanoprobes dropped by Borg probes. Greater warp range opens access to deeper systems. The official notes do not provide a complete system list or current warp thresholds, so use the live game’s map and your ship’s displayed range rather than relying on an assumed route.
These systems contain Borg probes at level 36 and above. Scopely says their higher-level drops provide increased Inert Nanoprobes and reduce the number of daily hostile kills needed for the Borg Refinery.

Related Talios progression: Borg Solo Armadas
The Talios also connects to Borg Solo Armadas and the Expansion Cube. Defeating a Borg Sphere Solo Armada with a Talios grants Foreknowledge; Talios ships carrying that buff can contribute it cumulatively against the Expansion Cube in a group Armada. This is a separate progression activity from the later Conqueror Borg Sphere hostile loop.
How to reach the Conqueror Borg systems
Unlock and use the Borg Sphere
The newer Conqueror Borg content was introduced with Update 89. The Borg Sphere is an epic G5 battleship designed for Ops 55+ and for fighting Conqueror Borg Suppressors and Obliterators. Its feature unlocks Maverick tasks, rewards, missions, refits, technologies and research. Scopely’s Borg Sphere feature highlight identifies research that increases the ship’s warp range.

- The Command Division supplement provides Gamemasters and Players with a wealth of new material for use in Star Trek Adventures for characters in the command division.
- Expanded 2d20 Social Conflict rules, enhancing social encounters and galactic diplomacy.
- An expanded list of Talents and Focuses for command and conn characters.
- New rules on running Admiralty-level campaigns that let you command entire fleets, as well as information on commanding starbases.
- The Star Trek Adventures supplementary rulebooks and sourcebooks require the Star Trek Adventures core rulebook in order to play.
Scopely’s Borg Sphere FAQ names Assimilated Sol as the starting system for Conqueror Borg hostiles and says the Borg Sphere is required; ordinary ships are designed to be ineffective against these targets. Check the live game for onward destinations and range requirements—the official pages do not establish a complete current map.
Know the two hostile types
- Suppressors: Present in systems all the time and required for new tasks.
- Obliterators: Appear less frequently and award more points, but pose a high instant-kill risk.
Why the Sphere’s abilities matter
The Sphere’s passives are tailored to these hostiles: Omicron Particle Charge increases damage, Apex Dispersion Field increases Apex Barrier, and Quantum Nullification Pulse disables the Suppressor’s Quantum Resonance Beam and the Obliterator’s Hyperthermic Resonance Beam.

- The single-player campaign is now called Metaverse, which comes from the term metagame, meaning game within a game.
- Each campaign has about 60 individual missions that feature greater context, flexibility, and impact on the fate of your empire.
- Metaverse is available for online play. There are two new races in addition to the original six: the savage Mirak Star League and the Interstellar Concordium, which aims to enforce peace at any cost.
- New ships are available, including escort vessels, patrol craft, and fighters, bringing the total variants to more than 1,000.
- A new fleet interface makes for easy target monitoring and allows fleets to operate as a single unit or for individual ships to move autonomously.
Sphere technologies and refits
Technologies for Conqueror Borg combat
| Technology | Effect | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Borg Operating Table | Improves warp speed and combat performance, and reduces incoming critical damage. | Prototype Forbidden Tech |
| Interplexing Beacon | Increases Hyperthermic Stabilizer and lowers hostile critical chance and shield mitigation. | Chaos Tech |
Both technologies’ materials are available through the Maverick Faction Store. Their buffs apply only to the Borg Sphere and the relevant new Conqueror Borg targets, according to Scopely’s FAQ.
Free refits at Tier 4 and Tier 5
- Transwarp Drive (Tier 4): Uses Transwarp Manifolds to warp to other systems and unlocks a daily Manifold chest.
- Assimilation Protocol (Tier 5): Applies Assimilate to player targets at the start of combat for two rounds.
These Sphere refits belong to the newer progression path; they are not prerequisites for the Talios-era Borg probe systems.
