In Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC), the standard Species 8472 Bioships are in Velixys, in the Delta Quadrant. Take the USS Voyager and activate its Advanced Sensors ability to reveal them; ordinary sensors do not spot these elusive hostiles. Defeating them rewards Exotic Biotoxins.
How to find Species 8472 in STFC
- Travel to Velixys. Scopely’s Delta Quadrant Help Center guide identifies this system as the location for Species 8472 Bioships.
- Bring the USS Voyager. Its Advanced Sensors ability is needed to reveal the Bioships, which evade regular sensors. Scopely explains the detection mechanic in the Help Center and in Update 55, dated June 6, 2023.
- Activate Advanced Sensors and look for the hostiles. They become visible while the ability is in use; they are not ordinarily visible to regular sensors.
- Defeat the Bioships to collect Exotic Biotoxins. The resource is used in Voyager progression and refining.
What Exotic Biotoxins are for
Exotic Biotoxins from the Velixys hostiles feed into Voyager progression and refining. Update 55 says the biotoxins can be refined into rewards and a travel token for specific Delta Quadrant systems. The token and refining are part of the resource loop; they do not change the Bioship location.
Don’t confuse Velixys with other Delta Quadrant locations
FSEP systems are for anomaly samples
The Help Center lists FSEP-505, FSEP-3819, FSEP-247, and FSEP-001 as anomaly-sample mining systems. It separately names Velixys for Species 8472 Bioships, so the FSEP systems are not the standard location for this hostile loop.
Formation Armadas are a different encounter
Update 54, dated May 9, 2023, describes Species 8472 Formation Armada targets in the Border of the Alpha Quadrant. These are not the standard Velixys Bioships encountered with Voyager’s Advanced Sensors.

Missions are tied to different exploration paths
Update 55 names Waste Management in Think Tank as a mission that unlocks a pathway for further Voyager Arc exploration. Update 54 names Commiseration in Eviloy for unlocking further exploration. These update notes describe separate mission contexts; they do not establish either mission as a universal prerequisite for reaching Velixys or finding the Bioships.

The February 2026 Echoes of V’ger schedule listed V’ger Species 8472 Bio-ships in Axanar and Sotavi for that event. Those are dated event locations, not evidence that the regular Voyager Bioship loop moved from Velixys or that the event hostiles remain available. Check the in-game event schedule for current availability.
