The 2014 Insomniac Games Xbox game highlighted by this headline is Sunset Overdrive. Twelve years after its Xbox One launch, its Steam Deck classification reportedly changed from Unsupported to Playable on October 26, 2026. That is a compatibility-status update—not a confirmed content patch. No new missions, weapons, graphics upgrades or performance fixes have been documented, and the game remains below Steam Deck Verified.

ComicBook.com reported that the Steam version’s Steam Deck label moved from “Unsupported” to “Playable.” The report did not identify the technical change, the build responsible for it or who submitted the update. “Playable” indicates that the game can run on the handheld with some possible limitations; it is not Steam’s highest compatibility designation.

Its identity comes from movement as much as shooting. Players grind along rails, vault over objects and wall-run through the city while using unconventional weapons and customizable special abilities. Insomniac president Ted Price described the project as an opportunity to push the studio’s traversal and combat further than before.
Is Sunset Overdrive Steam Deck Verified or Playable?
It is reported as Playable, not Verified. Those labels have different implications: Verified means Valve has approved the game against its stronger handheld criteria, while Playable warns that adjustments, occasional text-entry workarounds or other limitations may remain.
- The status change does not guarantee a locked 60-frame-per-second experience.
- It does not establish that every menu, launcher, cutscene or control prompt is flawless.

Can I play Sunset Overdrive on Xbox Series X?
Xbox currently lists Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming. A Series X owner can therefore look for the Xbox edition through the console’s store or library rather than relying on the Steam Deck change, which applies to the PC version.

Where can I buy Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One?
The main purchase routes are the Xbox Store, the Steam edition for Windows PC and a boxed Xbox One copy from a game retailer or second-hand market. The reported label change does not establish a remaster, sequel, new downloadable content, a frame-rate patch or a newly supported control scheme. It also does not identify whether Valve, a publisher update or an unnoticed game-build change caused the classification to move.

For now, the practical takeaway is narrow: the Steam build is officially presented as more usable on Steam Deck than it was under the previous Unsupported label, but players should still expect caveats associated with a Playable rating.
