In October 2023, footage of Super Mario Bros. Wonder running on a PC through Nintendo Switch emulation circulated online, shortly before the game’s Switch release. The reported 4K, 60-frames-per-second footage was not an official PC version, and it can spoil level designs, art assets, and gameplay mechanics.
What the 4K PC footage showed
HotHardware reported the leak on October 16, 2023, four days before the game’s reported October 20 release date. TechSpot said the footage ran at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second and identified Ryujinx as a compatible Switch emulator. That describes the reported footage—not a reproducible performance test: the article did not identify the PC hardware used or provide requirements for achieving the same result.
The report concerned a Nintendo Switch game running through emulation, not a native PC release from Nintendo. The footage therefore does not establish that the game was officially available for PC or that a particular computer can run it at 4K/60fps.
Can you play Super Mario Bros. Wonder on PC?
Nintendo’s official product listing is for the Nintendo Switch edition: Super Mario Bros. Wonder for Nintendo Switch. Buying that edition does not provide a PC version. The 2023 emulator footage is not evidence of an official PC launch.

A separate report published by iTechGuides on October 7, 2026 described a private, unofficial Windows demo. The report said it was not publicly downloadable, and its implementation and performance had not been independently verified. It does not establish a public PC port or confirmed PC release.
What spoilers might the leak reveal?
The warning is not limited to story twists. HotHardware writer Zak Killian noted, “Level designs, art assets, and game mechanics can also be spoiled.” Seeing a level layout, a visual surprise, or a new way to play can diminish the discovery the game is designed to offer, even if no plot details are revealed.
