The 2015 guide names limestone, obsidian, cacao, corn, turquoise and amber, and identifies the Quarry, Obsidian Quarry, Cacao Plantation and Farm as production buildings. It says production is ordered in timed blocks rather than happening automatically. Because the guide is old, confirm current resource names, building labels, intervals and requirements in the game before planning around them.

Keep population and plans in view
The same guide describes population as supporting construction, research, rituals and troop recruitment, and says the Sun Temple affects population growth. It also says research is shared across an empire while buildings must be built again in each colony. Treat those as historical pointers to check in the current game, not guaranteed rules. As a practical starting habit, inspect the resource buildings and their queues, then weigh production against population and the next building or research goal you intend to pursue.
Which play style fits you?
The official game description presents individual, cooperative and competitive play. Google Play also mentions joining or creating tribes, trading, coordinated attacks and diplomacy. Those options point to different strategic emphases; the listings do not quantify how much time or coordination each requires.
