For a stealth-focused assassin among these picks, Basim is the clearest choice: his story develops from street theft into mastery of assassination, and his equipment supports concealment, distraction, and stealthy attacks. Akshan belongs in the assassin conversation for a different reason. Riot’s developer feature says the design team was making “a roguish assassin kit,” and game designer Glenn “Riot Twin Enso” Anderson describes Akshan as “very much a charming rogue.” He represents the overlap between assassin mechanics and a charismatic rogue persona, rather than the stealth-first approach that defines Basim. Which games let you play a charming rogue?
Nathan Drake in Uncharted
Nathan Drake is a rogue by temperament more than by class or stealth toolkit. A 2025 GamesRadar character feature calls him a “loveable rogue,” pointing to his treasure seeking, banter, troubled past, and tendency to do the right thing. His appeal is the mix of improvisational confidence and imperfect judgment: he can sound like a scoundrel without being defined by theft or deception alone.

How to compare rogues across different games
A stealth protagonist, a treasure-hunting adventurer, and a multiplayer champion are not interchangeable. These distinctions help identify what kind of rogue a game actually offers.
- Stealth and misdirection: Look at concealment, detection, distractions, and tools. Ubisoft’s overview of the Assassin’s Creed series traces how its stealth systems have changed over time, so a shared franchise label does not mean identical stealth play: Ubisoft on the evolution of stealth.
- Mobility and agility: Consider whether traversal, evasion, or movement is part of the character’s appeal. Basim’s stealth-oriented tools and story are documented in Ubisoft’s Mirage material, but the available descriptions here do not provide a comparable mobility measure for every character.
- Rogue identity: Ask whether the story calls the character a thief, assassin, or scoundrel—and whether their goals and behavior support that label. Basim and Kay have explicit thief identities; Akshan’s rogue identity is discussed in Riot’s design feature.
- Charm and character voice: Banter, wit, swagger, and a tendency to bend rules can matter more than stealth. Drake is the clearest example in this group.
