The Dragonforged lives at Bay Wayside Shrine, northeast of Bakbattahl. The main quest Flickering Shadows leads you to him. He accepts Wyrmslife Crystals for items and equipment services, but what he sells depends on story progress.
Where to find The Dragonforged
Bay Wayside Shrine is northeast of Bakbattahl. The clearest route is to reach Bakbattahl through the main story, then follow the road northeast past the Riftstone of Remembrance. The quest Flickering Shadows points you toward the shrine and the Dragonforged. Game8’s location guide provides this route context.

A guide also describes an alternate approach through Guerco Cavern, but it is a more hazardous option for an underleveled party. The northeast route from Bakbattahl is the better default.

The Dragonforged is a human male NPC and vendor. He uses Wyrmslife Crystals as currency, and his inventory changes with progression: some implements are available earlier, while weapons and armor open up later on the route to the true ending. Treat any list of his stock as a progression-dependent snapshot, not a guarantee that every item is available as soon as you meet him.

Game8’s shop listing includes weapons and gear such as Dragon’s Dogma, Dragon’s Aegis, Dragon’s Rancor, Dragon’s Vein, Dragon’s Nous, Dragon’s Bite, Dragon’s Wit, Grianmhar, Lindworm Fang, Dragonswail Litany, and Executioner’s Greaves. The listing gives prices from 30 Wyrmslife Crystals for Executioner’s Greaves and 40 for Dragon’s Aegis to 110 for several weapons; availability depends on story progress.
He can also enhance equipment to its fullest potential, according to GameSpot’s March 2024 Wyrmslife Crystal guide. First upgrade the item through blacksmiths to level 3, then use the Dragonforged’s service. The guide also lists Ferrystones for 3 crystals, a Portcrystal for 20, and an Unmaking Arrow for 8. These are guide-reported prices from March 2024, so check the in-game shop for the current cost.

How Wyrmslife Crystals work
Wyrmslife Crystals are dropped by dragons and serve as the Dragonforged’s currency. GameSpot reports that defeating a dragon can yield 10–20 crystals, while a dragon that escapes may leave only one or two. These are reported ranges, not guaranteed drops; the amount you collect can vary.
Crystals also matter during Flickering Shadows: Ambrosius asks for at least 15 to make a powerful weapon, and the quest sends the Arisen to seek information from the Oracle and the Dragonforged before leading toward A New Godsway. If you are saving crystals for this quest request, consider it before spending them on optional shop items.

Where to look for dragons
Dragon encounters are spread across the map, and a listed location does not guarantee a particular spawn or schedule. PowerPyx’s location guide describes encounters around:
- Northern Harve Ruins
- The route between Harve and Checkpoint Rest Town
- Ancient Battleground
- The Oracle’s area
- Dragonsbreath Tower
- Agamen Volcanic Island
The guide also notes a Melve encounter associated with Readvent of Calamity and a later appearance near Vernworth. These are possible places and quest contexts to investigate, not a reliable timetable for repeatable farming.

How to prioritize your crystals
- Need the quest weapon? Set aside at least 15 crystals for Ambrosius before buying optional items.
- Want a specific piece of gear? Check the Dragonforged’s current stock and price in-game; his weapons and armor are progression-sensitive.
- Planning an equipment enhancement? Upgrade the item through a blacksmith to level 3 before seeking the Dragonforged’s service.
- Farming crystals? Follow dragon locations as leads, but plan for combat and variable drops rather than assuming a fixed yield.
