The Forest uses numeric item IDs with four primary console commands: additem puts one item in your inventory, spawnitem drops one item on the ground near you, removeitem removes an item from your inventory, and the bulk commands add or remove whole groups. To enable them, type developermodeon on the title screen, then press F1 in a game to open or hide the developer console.

The reference range most commonly documented is item ID 29 through 310, but it contains gaps, alternate names, story entries and IDs that have no usable item. Use the exact number from the table below, and treat a failed spawn as a possible ID or item limitation rather than automatically as a syntax error.

The developer console must be enabled before any item command can work. Activation happens from the title screen, not from inside a save.
- At the title screen, type
developermodeon. - Start or load a game.
- Press
F1to toggle the console. - Enter a command followed by a space and the numeric item ID, then press Enter.
The activation command does not use a visible text field on the title screen; type it directly while that screen is active. If F1 does not show the console, return to the title screen, enter developermodeon again, load the game and retry.

Which command should you use?
The four single-item commands differ by destination and reversibility. Select the command before selecting an ID.

For a single item, additem is the most predictable choice because the result goes directly to inventory. Use spawnitem when the physical object matters. Bulk commands save typing but give up precision and have separate story-item scopes.

An item ID is the number placed after additem, spawnitem or removeitem. The following quick reference combines the commonly used entries. Names are normalized where lists use aliases; the number is the value that matters.

The two documented entries for Energy Mix (100 and 213) illustrate why an ID list should be treated as a version-sensitive reference rather than a perfect one-to-one name index. If one entry does not produce the expected result, try the other documented number or use the inventory command instead of a ground spawn.
How to spawn a specific item
Once the console is active, replace <item ID> with the number from the table. Do not type the angle brackets.
- Stand where you want the object to appear if you are using
spawnitem. - Press
F1and enter the command in lowercase. - Use a single space between the command and number.
- Press Enter and look at the ground near your character for a spawned pickup, or open your inventory for an
additemresult. - Repeat the command for each separate item unless a bulk command meets your needs.

Use removeitem with the same number if you need to remove an inventory copy. For example, removeitem 54 removes Rope from inventory; it is not a command for deleting a rope object that is already lying in the world.

How do the bulk item commands work?
Adding ordinary items
addallitems grants non-story items. It is useful when you want a broad set of supplies and equipment without entering dozens of IDs, but it deliberately does not include story objects.
Adding story items
addallstoryitems handles the separate story-item group. Keycards are an example of a story object, so use this command when your goal is to obtain story progression items in bulk rather than ordinary equipment.
Removing groups
removeallitems removes ordinary inventory items, while removeallstoryitems removes story items. Their separate scopes let you clear one category without assuming the other has also been changed.

Respawning world pickups
spawnallpickups is for pickup respawning. It repopulates pickup objects in the world and should not be confused with either inventory-grant command.

A command that produces no visible object is not always a typing mistake. The documented item lists include IDs marked N/A, and the official wiki notes that some item types do not work with spawn commands. It also records restrictions affecting different arrow types and reports that sticky bombs may not be addable.
Check the ID and alias
Confirm that the number is in the documented range and that you did not substitute an item name for its number. Names such as “Spear” versus “Weak Spear” and “Cloth” versus “Fabric” are aliases; the command still requires the numeric ID. For Energy Mix, two documented IDs exist, so try the alternate entry if one fails.
Try inventory placement
If the object does not need to appear physically, retry with additem. An item may be valid for inventory placement but unavailable as a ground-spawn object. This is the quickest way to distinguish a spawn limitation from a bad ID.

Check for an N/A entry
An ID marked N/A has no attached item. No command variation can create an object from such an entry; choose a different documented ID.
Separate story and ordinary scopes
If you used addallitems and expected a keycard or another story object, nothing is necessarily broken: that command excludes story items. Use addallstoryitems instead, or enter the specific story-item ID.
Verify console activation
Return to the title screen and repeat developermodeon, then load the save and press F1. A command typed without an active developer console cannot produce the expected result.
Account for game version and mode
Item references and command behavior can change with patches or differ by mode and platform. The documented 29–310 range is a practical reference, not a promise that every number behaves identically in every installation. If a previously working command stops responding after an update, retest the ID with additem and consult a current list for that version.
