There is no verified “best” spear ore mix to recommend: the available recipe guide does not include spears. You can still make a useful build choice by starting with the spear variant’s stats, then choosing eligible traits and a rune for the outcome you want. Treat the figures below as unofficial reference values and confirm them in your current game.
Which spear variant fits your playstyle?
The fan-maintained weapon reference lists the following spear-family values. It gives each entry 11 studs of reach, but the damage and attack interval differ. Shorter intervals mean more frequent attacks; they do not, by themselves, prove higher damage per second.

| Variant | Listed base damage | Listed attack interval | Listed reach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spear | 7.5 | 0.45 seconds | 11 studs |
| Trident | 7.5 | 0.45 seconds | 11 studs |
| Angelic Spear | 9.75 | 0.41 seconds | 11 studs |
| Demonic Spear | 9 | 0.56 seconds | 11 studs |
| Knight Spear | 10.125 | 0.47 seconds | 11 studs |
| Compass Spear | 10.5 | 0.47 seconds | 11 studs |
These are reference-table values, not developer-confirmed or independently tested current-game measurements. The table may reflect different update states, so check your in-game weapon information before building around a small stat difference.
How ore mix and forging quality affect damage
Ore count or rarity alone does not determine a spear’s final damage. The weapon reference describes the calculation as Final Damage = (Index Base DMG) × (Ore Multiplier) × (%Mastery). In practical terms, compare the variant’s base damage, the ore multiplier, and your forging mastery or quality as separate factors.

The reference describes mastery or quality as coming from the forging minigame. It does not establish a tested spear-specific ore ratio, current ore thresholds, or a rule for how spear traits stack. For that reason, an exact recipe advertised as “best” would overstate what is known.
Choose traits for the result you want
The trait reference identifies these as weapon-eligible options. Their listed effects can guide a build’s direction, but the source does not provide verified spear-specific thresholds or performance results.

- Rivalite: listed for increased critical-hit chance, making it a candidate for a critical-focused setup.
- Eye Ore: listed for weapons and armor; on weapons, it trades health for extra damage. Consider the health cost rather than treating the damage increase as free.
- Fireite: listed for a chance to burn the target.
- Magmaite: listed for a chance to create an area explosion.
Do not carry over armor-only effects when comparing spear builds: an effect that applies to armor is not automatically a weapon or spear effect.

Account for secondary traits
Listed secondary bonuses can change how a spear feels and performs, so compare the actual rolls rather than judging only by ore or base damage.

Why published ore recipes do not answer the spear question
A community post asks for “mid-late game spear recipes,” but that wording is a request, not evidence that a particular mix works. The available recipe guide labels its examples tested, yet the displayed recipes are for straight swords, katanas, gauntlets, and colossal weapons—not spears. It also gives different ore-count ranges by weapon family. Transferring one of those recipes to a spear would be a guess, not a validated build.

How to test a spear mix reliably
If you want to compare ore mixes in your current version, keep the test controlled so the result is useful to you or other players.
- Record the game version or test date and the exact spear variant.
- Write down the exact ore counts and any displayed trait effects for each mix.
- Record the rune, secondary trait rolls, and forging quality for each weapon.
- Use the same target and conditions for each comparison, and record damage over a fixed number of hits.
- Repeat the comparison if possible; report the observed result as applying to those recorded conditions, not as a universal recipe.
This is a testing method, not a claim that a spear recipe has already been tested. Fan-maintained reference pages can change, and no official developer-confirmed spear recipe is established by the sources cited here.
