To complete The Poppy Field in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, accept Mityay’s request in Zalissya, cross the drowsiness-inducing field to find the root cellar, take the religious icon, then choose whether to return it to Mityay or give it to Pomor. Bring Non-Stop Energy Drinks and follow the active journal objective: Pomor’s information and body-collection job are optional.
Start the quest in Zalissya
Speak with Mityay in Zalissya to accept his request to retrieve a religious icon from a root cellar in the Poppy Field. The field is northwest of the village in the Lesser Zone. Use the active objective in your journal and PDA to guide you; map pins can mark different conditional steps rather than a list of stops you must visit in order. A map guide updated August 24, 2026 for build 24914692 shows seven conditional mission objectives and separate markers for Pomor and Mityay: LootMap’s quest map.
Prepare for the Poppy Field’s drowsiness effect
The field causes drowsiness, and walkthroughs warn that staying too long can lead to collapse and death. Carry Non-Stop Energy Drinks and use them to counteract the effect while crossing. Buildings and bodies nearby may contain additional drinks. Avoid carrying unnecessary weight if you plan to loot bodies, since extra gear can encumber you.
Choose how to get the cellar location
Pomor is in a house near the field. Speaking with him is optional; you can search for the cellar without taking his offer. His available information paths are:

- Explore independently: Decline the offers and use the active quest objective to find the cellar.
Find the root cellar and retrieve the icon
Cross the hazardous field and look for a small entrance with a ladder. Guides describe the approach differently: one route heads from Pomor’s house toward a gap between abandoned buildings, while another places the cellar at the western end of the field and suggests following the northern edge before turning southwest. If Pomor has given you coordinates, use the cellar marker; otherwise, track the current objective rather than treating every map pin as a required waypoint. Take the religious icon from inside.
Choose who receives the religious icon
After retrieving the icon, decide whether to return it to Mityay or give it to Pomor. The rewards differ, and the AR416 may carry a repair burden.

GSC Game World’s official Update 1.7 notes document a fix for an issue where “Discover the location of the cellar” did not complete after receiving the cellar coordinates during The Poppy Field. That patch note confirms a historical fix; it does not establish that every current save or platform is free of quest issues.
