Electronic Arts re-released The Sims and The Sims 2 as digital PC Legacy Collections on January 31, 2025. Each includes the base game and a specified set of expansions and stuff packs; EA’s published lists do not establish that every historical bonus item or downloadable extra is included. You can buy the collections separately or as a bundle, and both target Windows 10 and Windows 11.
What is included in The Sims Legacy Collections?
EA’s product lists name the packs included with each collection. The original The Sims collection has seven expansions; The Sims 2 has eight expansions and nine stuff or holiday packs.

Where can you buy them, and what does the bundle include?
These are digital PC releases, available through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. EA’s current product pages describe the 25th Birthday Bundle as containing both Legacy Collections. EA’s bundle page lists the offer; availability and current prices can differ by storefront and region.
At launch, EA announced prices of $19.99 for The Sims collection, $29.99 for The Sims 2 collection, and $39.99 for the bundle. Those are historical U.S.-dollar announcement prices from January 2025, not a current quote. Check your regional storefront for the price before buying. The bundle’s launch price was $10 above the launch price of The Sims 2 collection alone and included the first collection as well.

Will the collections run on Windows 10 or Windows 11?
EA says both collections run on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and lists Windows 10 as the minimum operating system. EA publishes the following minimum hardware specifications for each collection:

EA also says the games remain true to the originals while receiving technical adjustments. The first game’s relaunch uses Vulkan, adds widescreen support and higher-quality textures, and fixes bugs EA judged safe to address. The Sims 2 uses DirectX 9.c; EA says it fixed some legacy and community-reported graphical issues, including black shadow boxes and pink rendering. For a particular PC, consult EA’s Sims collection requirements and the relevant collection’s support page rather than treating the minimum list as a guarantee of performance.

Can you use old saves, and what about mods?
EA says existing saves can be migrated if they are not corrupted, but save locations changed for both games. Back up your saves and follow EA’s instructions for the corresponding collection before moving files. The Sims collection support page and Sims 2 collection support page cover save files.
Maxis has not tested or supported mods for the relaunched versions. EA says individual mod creators are responsible for compatibility, so a mod that worked with an older installation is not assured to work with a Legacy Collection.

Does the Steam version require an EA account?
For The Sims 2 on Steam, the product page says play requires an internet connection and linked EA and Steam accounts. That requirement is stated for the Steam edition; do not assume it describes every storefront or collection. See the Steam product page for its edition-specific requirements.
