Which Hello Japan update do you mean?
“Hello Japan” first appeared as Sim Festival Season Two. EA later brought the theme back for Sim Festival Season Fourteen in 2023. If you are looking into an old crash report or forum post, check which event the player meant; the name refers to both the original festival and its later return.
EA’s original update notes describe the festival and its events. Under “Bug Fixes,” they say: “Fixed crashes on Bake Off.” That establishes a fix for crashes in the Bake Off activity. It does not establish that Hello Japan caused widespread crashing or freezing, or explain the cause of any individual player’s issue. EA’s 2023 announcement confirms the theme returned as Season Fourteen.
Can you fix The Sims Mobile crashing or freezing now?
No. EA says The Sims Mobile servers permanently shut down on January 20, 2026, at 1:59 PM UTC. The game depended on those servers, so it is no longer playable. Progress saved on the servers is no longer available. Reinstalling the app, switching devices, or troubleshooting a connection cannot restore access to a game whose servers have closed.

EA’s general Android crash and freeze guidance suggests steps such as updating the app and device, closing other apps to free memory, restarting, checking connectivity, and clearing app cache or data. That guidance is general mobile-game advice, not confirmation of a Hello Japan-specific fault or fix. It cannot overcome the permanent server shutdown.

What EA’s notes do—and do not—tell us
- Established: EA listed a fix for crashes in Bake Off in the original Hello Japan update notes.
- Not established: The notes do not identify a general Hello Japan crash or freeze defect, quantify affected players, or explain the cause of a particular player’s problem.
- Current status: The game is unavailable because its servers have permanently closed, not because of a device setting that players can change.
