How to start Practicum in Advanced Alchemy
Gremist is at Gedyneith, the sacred oak on Ard Skellig. One route to him is through the druids gathered there: listen to them, ask a less senior druid about Gremist, then speak with Gremist and ask him to teach you alchemy. He initially refuses, but offers an apprenticeship test involving three favors.

You can also be directed to Gremist by an herbalist at a hut northeast of Oxenfurt. Ask about advanced alchemy formulae. The quest can also begin if you meet Gremist directly on Ard Skellig.
Complete Gremist’s three favors
Do the favors in any order. Each takes place on Ard Skellig.

Find pimpernel in Morskogen Forest
- Travel to Morskogen Forest and use Witcher Senses to inspect the plants. The first pimpernel may already have been picked.
- Follow the hoofprints to Ramund and the succubus. The accompanying druid wants to kill her; you can refuse and follow the succubus to her cave instead. If she is killed, follow the scent trail to the cave.
- Enter the cave and collect the pimpernel.
Both documented paths lead to the cave and the pimpernel. The consulted quest guides do not establish whether choosing to kill or spare the succubus affects later events or the reward.
Get Skellige Spirit at the Hail Hill distillery
- Go to the old distillery on Hail Hill and clear the enemies.
- Search the sleeping quarters for the Distiller’s Letter.
- Find the mash above the evaporator and put it into the machine.
- Light the fire with Igni or the machine’s interaction prompt.
- Cool the condenser by pulling its right lever first, then its left lever.
- Collect the Skellige Spirit from the barrel beside the condenser.
Protect Fritjof near Blandare
- Find Fritjof on the western side of Blandare and agree to help him.
- Protect him during the rain ritual. Several foglets appear while he casts; defeat them so he can finish.
Return to Gremist to finish the quest
Once all three favors are complete, return to Gremist at Gedyneith. He asks Geralt to wait 24 hours while he and Fritjof perform the ritual. After the wait, speak with Gremist again to complete the quest.

GameBanshee’s walkthrough reports 80 XP for each of the three favors and the final step. It also reports a final reward of five each of Alcohest, Han Fiber, Saltpeter, and Sulfur. These are guide-reported in-game figures; the consulted sources do not provide an official reward table.
