As of October 30, 2026, The Wolf Among Us Remastered is playable digitally on Windows PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox One. The Xbox One version runs on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility. The original remains a separate option: its PC purchase listings are still visible on Epic and Steam, and its PS4 edition is sold through Sony’s US store and plays on PS5, although Sony warns that some PS4 features may be missing. For a current purchase, the strongest verified routes are Remastered on PC, PS5 or Xbox One, and the original on PC or PS4. Store availability can vary by country, so a missing listing in your region is not proof that an edition has been globally removed.
What launched on October 29, 2026?
Telltale’s October 29 launch announcement covers digital Remastered editions for Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5 and Xbox One. On Xbox hardware, the publisher describes the Xbox One edition as playable on Xbox Series X|S by backward compatibility; it is safer to call this an Xbox One release running on newer consoles than to describe it as a separate native Series X|S edition.

PC: Steam and Epic Games Store
Both PC storefronts carry the Remastered release. Steam lists 64-bit Windows 10 and 8 GB of RAM among the minimum requirements. Those two figures are not a complete requirements sheet, so check the current Steam specification page for processor, graphics, storage and any later updates before assuming an older computer that ran the original will run Remastered.
PlayStation 5
Remastered has a dedicated PS5 digital version. The original remains a PS4 product that Sony says can be played on PS5, with a warning that some PS4 features may not be available. That distinction matters when choosing between the cleaner native PS5 presentation and the older backward-compatible edition.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Remastered is sold as an Xbox One digital edition and is playable on Series X|S through backward compatibility. The launch material does not establish a separately marketed native Series X|S build. If you own an Xbox Series console, look for the Remastered Xbox One listing and confirm that the store recognizes your console and region.
Why is The Wolf Among Us not on Switch today?
The Switch Remastered version is delayed, not secretly available under a different listing. An October 8 announcement had named October 29, but Telltale’s October 26 update changed the schedule, stating: “The Nintendo Switch version will launch at a later date, with timing to be shared soon.” The October 29 launch release again says Switch versions will follow without giving a date.

Do not convert the earlier date into a present-day purchase recommendation, and do not infer that a mention of Switch 2 means a Switch 2 edition is currently downloadable. No verified original Switch release fills the gap either. The practical answer for Nintendo owners is to wait for an official date rather than buy a code advertised as a launch-day Switch version.
Is the original game still available, and is it the same as Remastered?
The original is still a separate purchasing choice on verified PC and PS4 routes. Epic shows an original-game listing, Steam displays a purchase listing, and Sony’s US storefront offers the original PS4 edition. Those live listings are the best evidence against assuming an automatic delisting, but they do not guarantee that every regional store will retain the game indefinitely.
Story content
Both editions contain the complete five-episode original story. Remastered changes presentation and adds extras rather than replacing the underlying episode count. Telltale and PM Studios describe a black-and-white Noir Mode, five playable deleted scenes, an art gallery with more than 100 artworks and over an hour of developer interviews.
Choice carry-over and the sequel
Telltale says a signed-in Telltale Account can carry defining Remastered choices into the planned sequel. It also says people starting the sequel without a previous playthrough will be able to establish prior choices. These are publisher statements about the planned feature; they should not be read as proof that a playthrough of the original automatically transfers choices into Remastered or that every platform shares saves.

Which edition should you buy?
Choose according to the device you actually own, the presentation you want and whether a discount applies to your account. The original is the lower-friction option for someone with a PS4 disc or an existing PS4/PC listing; Remastered is the current choice for a first purchase on PS5, Xbox or a supported PC and for anyone wanting the added scenes and presentation options.
Choose Remastered when

If you specifically want a physical product now, search for The Wolf Among Us PS4 physical game and confirm that the listing is the original edition. Could the original be delisted after Remastered?
No delisting decision has been announced in the available publisher material.
