SteamDB’s most-wishlisted page is a live chart of upcoming Steam games, not a record of the 2025 standings. SteamDB says, “Number of wishlists is unknown as Steam does not publicise it.” That is SteamDB’s description of its data, not a statement from Valve. A live chart cannot establish what the ordering was in a past year.
What published wishlist figures can—and cannot—tell you
Wishlist figures may describe different things. For example, Sensor Tower’s July 2025 VGI Wishlist Report gives estimated wishlist-at-launch figures for selected games. These are not Valve-published public totals, and they do not reveal the missing date or method behind TechBloat’s retrospective list.

These launch estimates use a different measure from a live wishlist ranking. They should not be used to infer an exact 2025 rank for any game in the roundup.

A separate GameDiscoverCo analysis, reproduced in a 2025 Big Games Machine report, compared selected top-20 converters with below-median converters over a period from September 2024 to mid-September 2025. It reported a 91% median Steam player review score after seven days for the selected top-20 converters, versus 67% for below-median converters. Those are sample results, not a general rule that a high wishlist count predicts a particular score or outcome.

A wishlist is useful for tracking a game and its updates or release, but it is a signal of interest—not evidence that the game will suit you, sell well, or meet your expectations. A high wishlist position does not guarantee sales or quality. Before buying or preordering, look at the information relevant to your decision, such as gameplay, reviews, platform support, release state, and whether the game offers the kind of play you want.
In short, the list is a snapshot of titles a 2026 article connected to the 2025 wishlist conversation. It is not a dated, independently documented leaderboard, and wishlist interest alone is not a verdict on a game.
