Throne and Liberty is a live-service MMORPG that combines cooperative PvE, competitive PvP, and weapon-based build customization. What kind of game is Throne and Liberty?
Throne and Liberty is a multiplayer online role-playing game built around ongoing character progression and a mix of group and competitive activities. Its appeal depends on what you want from an MMO: cooperative dungeons and other PvE activities are available alongside arenas, large-scale PvP, and castle sieges. It is not a single-mode game, but the balance between modes and the progression systems continue to change through updates.

Amazon Game Studios’ 2024 overview described six-player co-op dungeons, fishing, cooking, Amitoi Expeditions, and photo mode among the game’s activities. NCSOFT’s 2025 service announcement listed a 24v24 PvP battlefield. Those examples are dated snapshots, not a guarantee that every event or activity is available on a given day; check current in-game notices for the live schedule.

Weapon-based customization
Character builds revolve around weapons and their skills. Players customize weapon skills through related systems, with Skill Cores forming part of that progression. That creates room to shape a character around preferred abilities, but it also means build development depends on acquiring and improving system-specific items rather than simply choosing a fixed class and leaving it unchanged.

Progression is being adjusted
Update 4.15.0, published October 7, 2026, added Lucky Reward Chests, increased Trait Resonance growth success rates, and introduced a direct crafting recipe for Trait Resonance Stones. It also adjusted weapon skills and stats, ended the current Tower of Greed season, and included fixes affecting bosses, dungeons, events, items, and crafting. These are the changes listed in that specific update, not a permanent description of the game’s balance.
An October 2, 2026 Resistance Report announced further changes planned for November: better max-level gear drops after reaching the level cap, adjustments to Hit Chance and some Dagger Evasion synergy, more Skill Core drops in Tumgir Hollow and co-op dungeons, guaranteed crafting of a chosen Skill Core, and three additional Skill Cores per weapon. The report said details and timing would follow in release notes, so treat these as plans until a later patch confirms they have shipped.
What is happening to western service?
Amazon Game Studios has announced that western publishing and live operations will transfer to NC, operating through subsidiary FirstSpark Games. The transition maintenance is scheduled to begin November 10, 2026; the official FAQ had not specified how long the maintenance would last as of October 8. The transfer is scheduled, not completed.
Decide whether to transfer your character
The transition notice says characters, inventory, progression, and entitlements will transfer unless a player opts out by October 30, 2026. If you opt out, your character data will not transfer. The notice says you would need to start fresh if you later play under NC’s operation. If you want to keep your existing character, do not opt out and follow the required activation steps in the official transition FAQ.
What changes by platform?

The FAQ says cross-play among Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox remains as before, with PURPLE planned to join the unified environment. Cross-play means players can play together; it does not mean their character progression is shared across every platform.
Plan around the shop and Auction House pause
The Auction House is scheduled to close temporarily from October 26 until the transition is complete. Celebration Packs, Character Boost, and Lucent packs are also scheduled to leave stores and the in-game shop beginning October 26, with availability returning when service resumes. The notice says existing Lucent, Loyalty Points, Sollant, and Ornate Coins remain usable before and after the transition. Consult official transition notices for schedule changes.

Amazon Game Studios’ published business-model overview describes Lucent as a premium currency that can be bought with real money or earned by selling eligible items through the Auction House. It also describes Lucent rewards from some PvP activities, including Castle Sieges and Tax Delivery Events. Auction House trades use Lucent and include a system tax plus a tax component set by the castle owner. Under the described model, paid and earned Lucent can be spent in the same way. Because western operations are changing, check NC-operated shop and economy information after the transfer for current terms.

Sollant is described as gameplay-earned currency used for NPC goods and systems such as crafting and gear upgrades. The business-model overview calls another activity- and promotion-earned currency “Ornamental Coins,” spent in a shop offering cosmetics and progression items; the transition notice lists “Ornate Coins” among balances that remain usable. The sources use those different names, so check the in-game wallet and current transition guidance rather than assuming a balance is missing if the label differs.
The same overview describes the in-game shop as offering digital outfits, morphs, Amitoi, emotes, and other cosmetics; those store items cannot be traded on the Auction House. Its Battle Pass support information says each pass is optional, seasonal, and purchased per character. Each has a free track and a premium track unlocked with Lucent, with rewards including cosmetics, Sollant, Battle Pass Shop Points, materials, and consumables. Challenges are daily, weekly, and seasonal, while the Battle Pass Point Shop is open to all players.
Amazon Game Studios said on September 24, 2024 that “the prices for the Leveling Pass and Battle Pass have been reduced and are now purchasable with Lucent.” That statement describes the international launch model at that time; it is not a new 2026 price announcement.
What is current in October 2026?
Update 4.15.0 lists the Solisium Starlight Festival for October 8–15, 2026, and the return of Autumn Haunted Harvest for October 15–November 5. These are time-limited event windows from the October 7 update notes. Check a fresh official notice if reading this after those dates or if the live schedule changes.
