It may suit players looking for an actively updated MMORPG with both cooperative content and PvP-linked systems, but the official material alone cannot support a blanket verdict that it is worth playing—or that it is “old-school,” “beautiful,” or “divisive.” Those are judgments about how the game feels and how its community responds, and no independent review or firsthand assessment is established here.
There is evidence that the live game is not frozen at launch: the official news index lists update 4.15.0, dated October 7, 2026, as well as an October Resistance Report covering progression and farming, combat stats and weapon balance, and improvements to Colossus Vegamor and Skill Cores. For a decision, focus on fit rather than a single review label: whether you want co-op dungeons, open-world exploration, PvP-linked activity, weapon experimentation, and progression through levels, gear, skills, and the in-game economy. What changed in The Frozen Divide: Nix?
The current expansion chapter, The Frozen Divide: Nix, is presented by the publisher as the game’s largest expansion to that point. Its listed additions broaden both progression and the activity mix:
- Nix: a new region for open-world exploration.
- Gauntlets: a new weapon, giving players another option to consider when evaluating weapon combinations.
- Co-op dungeons: additional group PvE content.
- Level 60 progression and stronger gear: a higher progression framework for players advancing through the game.

Is Throne and Liberty free to play?
Yes. The Steam listing identifies Throne and Liberty as free to play, online-only, and released globally on October 1, 2024; it also notes in-app purchases. The official homepage promotes a free download. Free access does not mean the game has no optional paid systems. Check the Steam listing or visit the official homepage.
The official homepage also advertises account-linking rewards, including an orb cosmetic, titles, an emote, 1,000 Ornate Coins, and a Noble Growthstone Chest. These are digital rewards, and eligibility or availability may change; check the live offer terms before relying on them.

Is Throne and Liberty pay to win?
The evidence supports describing the announced systems, not issuing a definitive pay-to-win verdict. Amazon Games and NCSOFT’s July 16, 2024 overview describes a regional model prepared for the Amazon Games service. In that account, Lucent could be purchased with real money, earned through certain PvP activities, or obtained by selling eligible items through the Auction House. It also describes Sollant as an in-game currency and Ornamental Coins as earnable through activities and promotions. Because this is a dated overview, it should not be treated as a complete inventory of the current store or every item’s present availability. Read the publishers’ business-model overview.
The same overview describes optional leveling and seasonal Battle Passes, each with free and paid tracks, and an in-game store with cosmetics such as outfits, morphs, Amitoi, and emotes. It says purchasable outfits are cosmetic and do not enhance player power. Amazon Games and NCSOFT state their principle as: “Purchasing items from our in-game shop must feel rewarding, but never necessary.” That is a stated design principle, not proof that every player experiences the economy as fair or that spending has no practical effect on progression or competition.

Yes. The official support page lists PC through Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It says requirements may change. Its current listed storage and connection requirements are 63 GB and broadband internet for PC, and 40 GB and broadband internet for each console.

What should returning and new players consider?
- Content preference: The official materials confirm co-op dungeons and exploration, as well as PvP-linked systems. They do not establish whether PvE or PvP is better served.
