Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launched on July 11, 2025, so the May hands-on coverage is now a record of a pre-release session—not a preview of an upcoming game. Xbox Wire’s author found the familiar appeal in planning a line, building the Special meter and refining combos, while some details changed between that session and the finished release.
What the hands-on preview was like
In a May 8, 2025 Xbox Wire preview, the author describes a loop of working out an ideal run, filling the Special meter, experimenting with trick combinations and retrying after missed tricks. That process kept the session engaging for the writer; it is a personal impression, not a guarantee that every player will feel the same.
The preview also points to differences among skaters. Its author describes Tony Hawk as strong at vert skating, Rodney Mullen as quick with flip tricks, and Eric Koston as balanced, naming Koston as their pick for the session. These are the preview author’s reported impressions of the hands-on build.
What changed between the preview and release?
The most important correction is that a preview-session omission should not be mistaken for a missing feature in the finished game. Xbox Wire says Create-A-Skater was unavailable during its hands-on time. Activision’s released-game FAQ, dated July 8, 2025, confirms the feature is in the game, with options for appearance, bio and skating style.

The released game brings together content from both original games, rebuilding returning parks for 4K output and adding three new parks: Waterpark, Movie Studio and Pinball. Activision’s launch announcement lists 19 parks in total. The full release also includes classic and new skaters and tricks, expanded park-creation tools, and modes including Career Tours, Single Session, Speedrun, Free Skate and New Game+.
Soundtrack and multiplayer in the finished game
The preview cites Motorhead, The Faction and Run-D.M.C. among artists from earlier games, alongside newer acts Idles, Thee Oh Sees and Fontaines D.C. Those are examples mentioned by Xbox Wire, not a complete track list.

Activision’s launch announcement says multiplayer supports up to eight players, with cross-platform, private and local play. Online multiplayer requires an internet connection; on consoles it also requires the relevant platform gaming subscription.
Can you play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 offline?
According to Activision’s FAQ, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo console players can play offline once the game is available on the device. An internet connection is needed to download digital copies and to download updates or content for physical editions. Offline play does not include online multiplayer.

PC play requires an internet connection, according to the same FAQ. Activision says 4K is available on supported consoles and PC systems with a compatible display; that does not mean every platform or system renders the game in native 4K.

Activision’s FAQ lists physical and digital editions for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Digital editions are also listed for PC. The FAQ says physical standard editions include a game disc. The Digital Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition are also documented; the Collector’s Edition bundles a physical game copy, a full-size Birdhouse “Wings” deck and a Digital Deluxe voucher. Availability, format and contents can vary by region and retailer, so check the current store listing for the platform you want.
