These ten games were temporarily free to claim on the Epic Games Store during 2023; the past giveaways do not mean they are free now. Here, “free” means a limited-time full-game promotion, not a free-to-play title. The order is an editorial selection based on range of genres and the different kinds of play each title represents—not an official or review-score ranking.
Epic reported that its store offered 86 free games in 2023, with more than 580 million total claims and over $2,000 USD in total value. Those are Epic’s program-wide figures, not a valuation for any one game or a promise of current availability. Epic Games Store’s 2023 Year in Review also discusses its recurring giveaway program separately from the store’s free-to-play catalog.

The 10 Epic Games Store giveaways from 2023
The historical offer dates below come from the 2023 giveaway archive. They identify when each game was listed as free to claim, not whether the offer can still be redeemed. The ranking groups a varied set of genres and play styles; the available historical records do not establish an objective quality ranking.

What “free” means—and how to find current offers
Epic’s recurring Free Games promotions make selected full games available to claim for a limited time. That is different from the store’s free-to-play catalog, where games are offered as free-to-play rather than appearing in a temporary giveaway. A past promotion date alone cannot establish whether a game is currently free or claimable.
For current promotions, use Epic’s official Free Games page. Epic Player Support also directs players there to find free-game promotions: Where can I find free game promotions?
