1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor most WordPress sites, start with the branding controls already built into WordPress. They handle your site title, tagline, logo, site icon, basic colors and a small amount of CSS. Add Elementor when you need a visual, site-wide design system for typography, colors, headers, footers and repeated components.
The right choice depends on scope rather than a universal “best” plugin: core tools are lighter and theme-dependent, while Elementor adds centralized visual controls and another plugin to maintain.

Which WordPress branding option fits your site?
Branding in WordPress usually involves two layers. The first is identity: the name visitors see, the tagline, the logo and the browser icon. The second is the design system: colors, typography, spacing, buttons, headers, footers and reusable components. WordPress core covers the first layer and some basic styling. Elementor covers both through a visual settings panel.

If you only need a logo, title, tagline, favicon or a few colors, installing a page builder may add unnecessary complexity. If several people edit the site and need coordinated typography, buttons, templates and navigation, a visual system can prevent one-off styling from spreading across pages.

What WordPress can do without a branding plugin
Customizer: identity, colors and Additional CSS
On a theme that supports the Customizer, open Appearance > Customize. The Site Identity panel provides fields for the logo, site title, tagline and site icon. Depending on the theme, the same Customizer includes color controls, background settings and an Additional CSS panel.
- Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.
- Upload or select the logo from the Media Library.
- Confirm the site title and tagline. These may appear in search metadata, browser titles or theme templates, so check the theme’s documentation before hiding them.
- Choose a square site icon that is at least 512 pixels wide and 512 pixels tall.
- Open the theme’s color controls and set the available background, text, link or accent values.
- Use Additional CSS only for small, targeted changes. Save and preview at desktop and mobile widths.
The Customizer is not identical across themes. A theme may rename controls, omit them or replace the Customizer with block-template settings. If a control is missing, do not assume a plugin is required; first check whether the active theme is a block theme and use its Site Editor instead.
Site Editor Identity for block themes
With a block theme, open Appearance > Editor and select Identity. WordPress documents controls there for the site title, tagline, logo and site icon. Changes are shown on the editor canvas and saved to the site.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open Appearance > Editor.
- Select Identity.
- Set the site title and tagline, then upload the logo.
- Choose the square site icon and save.
- Open the header and footer templates to verify that the logo, navigation and text still fit at narrow widths.
This route keeps branding in the same system as your block templates. It is often the cleanest option for a block-theme site because it avoids duplicating global identity settings in a separate builder.

Site Logo block versus site icon
The Site Logo block displays the logo that represents your website on pages. When you change the image, the change applies to all Site Logo blocks on the site. Its settings can also enable the image as the site icon, but the two roles remain different.
- Site logo: page content in headers, footers or other templates. It must remain recognizable at the size used in the layout.
- Site icon: the compact mark shown in browser tabs, bookmarks and mobile app contexts. It needs to remain legible at very small sizes.
Using the same file for both is possible, but a simplified icon usually works better than a detailed horizontal logo in a browser tab.
Why Elementor is the leading visual branding choice
Elementor’s Site Identity settings manage the site name, description, logo and favicon. The logo is selected from the Media Library and can be used by the Site Logo widget and other site functions. Its broader value is the centralized design system in Site Settings.

Global colors and global fonts
Global colors let you define a controlled palette once and reuse it across widgets. Global typography does the same for font families, sizes, weights, line heights and related text settings. When a global value changes, elements that reference that value can update without editing every page.

- Open an Elementor page and use the main menu to enter Site Settings.
- Define the brand palette under Global Colors. Give each color a clear role such as primary, secondary, text or accent.
- Set heading, body, button and supporting text rules under Global Fonts or global typography controls.
- Apply global values to widgets instead of manually entering near-identical hex codes and font settings.
- Review existing pages for local overrides; an override will not necessarily change when the global token changes.
Theme Style defaults
Elementor’s Theme Style controls establish defaults for backgrounds, headings, buttons, images and form fields. This is useful when the active theme’s defaults conflict with your visual system. Set the defaults first, then add page-specific exceptions only where the design genuinely calls for them.
Headers, footers and layout
Site Settings also covers header and footer styling, layout settings, site identity and custom CSS. A centralized header keeps the logo, navigation, calls to action and spacing consistent. A centralized footer can standardize legal links, social links and secondary navigation. Check both templates on phones: long site titles, large logos and multi-column footers often need responsive adjustments.
Custom CSS and breakpoints
Elementor provides custom CSS in its settings workflow, along with layout and breakpoint controls. Use CSS for a defined need—such as a focus state, a spacing correction or a component variation—rather than recreating the same rule on individual widgets. Document unusual selectors so a future editor can tell whether a rule is intentional or obsolete.

Choose WordPress core when
- Your requirement is limited to a site title, tagline, logo, site icon, basic colors or a small CSS adjustment.
- Your current theme already supplies the header, footer and layout you want.
- You are using a block theme and its Site Editor handles the identity and template changes you need.
- You want to minimize plugin dependencies and keep branding tied to WordPress and the theme.
Choose Elementor when
- Nontechnical editors need visual control instead of editing CSS or theme files.
- You need one place to manage global colors, typography, headings, buttons, forms and image defaults.
- Headers, footers and repeated components must follow the same rules across many templates.
- You need layout, responsive breakpoint and custom-CSS controls beyond what the theme exposes.
Use a staged approach
You can begin with core identity settings and add Elementor only when a concrete design requirement appears. Before switching, record the existing logo, icon, colors, font choices and template locations. This prevents a builder migration from producing two competing sources of truth.

Brand assets: prepare the logo and favicon separately
Prepare at least two deliverables even if they are based on the same mark: a page logo and a compact site icon. WordPress specifies a square site icon at least 512 pixels wide and tall. Elementor’s favicon guidance also recommends a 512-by-512-pixel image and describes the favicon as a simplified version of the logo or brand.
- Logo file: keep enough horizontal or vertical resolution for the largest header where it will appear; preserve transparent padding only when it is intentional.
- Site-icon file: simplify fine detail, test the mark at tiny sizes and keep the important shape centered in a square canvas.
- Color variants: prepare a version that remains visible on both light and dark header backgrounds if your templates use both.
- Accessibility: provide meaningful alternative text for a logo that conveys information. A purely decorative repeated logo can use the implementation appropriate to its template and accessibility policy.
Upload the assets through the Media Library, then verify the rendered result rather than judging only the editor preview. Browser tabs, pinned shortcuts and narrow mobile headers can crop or scale the same source differently.
Implementation workflow for a consistent WordPress brand
- Inventory the current site. List every place identity appears: header, footer, login screen, menus, widgets, templates, browser icon and social-sharing image. Note which system currently controls each location.
- Define the minimum system. Choose the logo, icon, primary and secondary colors, body and heading typography, button treatment and spacing rules before changing templates.
- Set identity in one place. Use the Customizer or Site Editor Identity for a core-first site. If Elementor controls the templates, set Site Identity there and avoid conflicting theme settings.
- Create global tokens. In Elementor, establish global colors and fonts before styling individual widgets. In a block theme, use the theme’s global styles and template controls where available.
- Style shared templates. Update the header, footer, navigation, buttons and form fields before editing one-off pages.
- Audit local overrides. Search for manually entered colors, font sizes and CSS declarations that bypass the global system.
- Test responsive states. Check desktop, tablet and phone widths, including long titles, translated text, keyboard focus and zoomed text.
- Publish in stages. Save a backup or use the host’s staging facility before a large template or builder change. Publish the identity first, then templates, then page-level refinements.
Common problems and practical fixes
The logo appears in one place but not another
Check whether the missing location is controlled by a different template, widget or theme setting. A Site Logo block updates other Site Logo blocks, but a separately uploaded image inside a widget will not automatically follow it. Replace that independent image or convert the template to use the shared logo source.
The site icon is blurry or cropped
Start with a square image at least 512 pixels by 512 pixels. Remove excess transparent margins, simplify the artwork and inspect the icon at browser-tab size. Clear the browser’s cached icon only after confirming that the new file is saved correctly.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Global changes do not affect every element
Look for local widget settings, template-specific styles or CSS selectors with higher specificity. Reconnect the element to the global color or font instead of continuing to add exceptions. Keep a short record of intentional exceptions so they are not mistaken for errors.
The Customizer is missing
The active theme may be a block theme that expects the Site Editor. Open Appearance > Editor > Identity and inspect the templates there. Do not install a second branding plugin solely to restore a control that the theme has moved.
Branding changes break the layout
Longer site names, larger logos and new font metrics can change header height and button wrapping. Test navigation at narrow widths, reduce logo dimensions where appropriate and set responsive typography deliberately rather than relying on desktop values.
Maintenance and compatibility checklist
- Keep one documented source for identity fields and one documented source for global design tokens.
- After updating the theme, WordPress or Elementor, verify the header, footer, logo, site icon, typography and forms.
- Test custom CSS after template changes because selectors and markup can change.
- Remove unused branding plugins or duplicate widgets; overlapping controls make future edits harder to trace.
- Confirm that the active theme and other plugins remain compatible before moving a production site to a new visual system.
- Review permissions so editors can change content without unintentionally altering global brand settings.
Bottom line: start small, add a design system only when needed
WordPress core is the sensible starting point for essential identity: title, tagline, logo, site icon, basic colors and limited CSS. Block-theme users should inspect the Site Editor Identity section before adding anything. Elementor is the stronger fit when branding means a coordinated visual system—global colors and fonts, theme defaults, headers, footers, layout controls and custom CSS managed from one visual interface. Keep the page logo and browser site icon as separate assets, choose one source of truth for global styles and test every change across templates and screen sizes.
