Yes—both original Nintendo Switch editions are listed as playable on Nintendo Switch 2, and their saves can be moved by Nintendo’s System Transfer, nearby save transfer, or an eligible Nintendo Switch Online cloud backup. Urban Myth Dissolution Center continues as its compatible Switch version. Schrödinger’s Call has two separate products: the original Switch edition, which runs through compatibility, and a native Switch 2 digital edition sold separately.
That distinction matters. To use an original Schrödinger’s Call save in the native Switch 2 edition, get the original-version save onto the Switch 2 before the native edition is launched for the first time. The publisher says the import is available only on that first launch, and transfer back from the native edition is not supported.

Which transfer method should I use?
Choose based on whether the original Switch is still available and whether the Switch 2 has already completed setup. Nintendo recommends local System Transfer when both consoles are together during initial setup. After setup, an individual nearby transfer works without a Nintendo Switch Online membership. A cloud download is useful when the old console is unavailable, but only if the correct backup already exists.

Both games’ original Switch editions are listed by Nintendo US as supported on Switch 2. Compatibility means the original software can run; it does not, by itself, mean separately sold editions share a save file.

What should I check before moving either save?
Confirm the game edition, user account and backup route before starting. This prevents the most serious mistake in this process: launching the native Schrödinger’s Call edition before its original save is available.
- Identify the edition. Urban Myth Dissolution Center has an original Switch version that runs on Switch 2. Schrödinger’s Call has an original Switch edition and a separately sold native Switch 2 digital edition.
- Use the user who owns the save. Individual transfer requires the same Nintendo Account on both consoles. Cloud download also requires the account that owns the backup.
- Update and connect both systems. Nintendo’s setup and nearby-transfer procedures require internet access and may prompt for system updates.
- Check the actual backup. A game card or memory card is not a save backup. For cloud recovery, open System Settings → Data Management → Save Data Cloud and verify the title, user and backup date.
- Protect an existing destination save. Receiving a save over an existing one can irreversibly overwrite it. Do not accept a prompt until the title and user are correct.
How do I transfer both saves during Switch 2 initial setup?
Use the initial-setup System Transfer when the old Switch and new Switch 2 are available at the same time. Nintendo recommends the local option because both consoles communicate directly. The transfer covers user and save data under Nintendo’s rules, while digital software is downloaded to the destination after setup.
Steps for a local initial-setup transfer
- Connect the original Switch and Switch 2 to the internet and install any updates requested during setup.
- On the Switch 2, continue the first-time setup until the System Transfer screen appears.
- Sign in with the Nintendo Account associated with the original-console user whose saves you want to move.
- Keep the consoles nearby and follow the on-screen instructions to begin the local transfer.
- Allow the process to finish. Nintendo’s instructions warn that source save data may be deleted; do not assume every old-console save will remain on the original system.
- After setup, confirm that Urban Myth Dissolution Center and the original Switch edition of Schrödinger’s Call appear on the Switch 2 and that their saves load.
- If you intend to use the native Schrödinger’s Call Switch 2 edition, verify the original-version save is present before opening the native edition for the first time.
A local full-system transfer is not identical to copying every file. Nintendo describes different handling for cloud-backup-supported saves belonging to linked accounts and certain other saves. Treat the source console as subject to Nintendo’s deletion or move warnings until the transfer is complete.
How do I transfer one save after the Switch 2 is already set up?
Use Nintendo’s individual nearby save transfer if both consoles are still available. It is free of a Nintendo Switch Online requirement, but it moves the selected save instead of making a duplicate.
Steps on the original Switch
- Open System Settings.
- Select Data Management.
- Choose Transfer Your Save Data.
- Select Send Save Data to Another Console.
- Choose the user profile that owns the save.
- Select Urban Myth Dissolution Center or Schrödinger’s Call, then follow the prompts.
Steps on Switch 2
- Open System Settings → Data Management → Transfer Your Save Data.
- Select Receive Save Data.
- Keep both consoles nearby, online and signed in with the same Nintendo Account.
- Accept the transfer when the correct game and user are shown.
- Wait for completion before starting the game.
Nintendo’s support warning is explicit: “This does not create a copy of your save data.” Sending deletes the original save, and receiving over an existing destination save can overwrite it. Check both screens carefully before confirming.

For Schrödinger’s Call, complete this transfer while the save is still an original Switch-version save. Then launch the native Switch 2 edition for the first time so its publisher-described import can detect the transferred data.

How do I restore a save with Nintendo Switch Online cloud data?
Cloud recovery works when an eligible Nintendo Switch Online membership and a verified backup are available. Nintendo US listings show Save Data Cloud support for Urban Myth Dissolution Center and for the listed Schrödinger’s Call editions. The Switch 2 must be able to play the edition whose backup you are downloading.
- On the Switch 2, sign in to the Nintendo Account that created the backup.
- Open System Settings → Data Management → Save Data Cloud.
- Select the relevant user and game.
- Check the displayed backup date and confirm that it is the progress you intend to restore.
- Download the backup, then start the compatible game and confirm the save.
Cloud backup is a separate service from Nintendo’s initial-setup server transfer. Do not treat a game card, microSD card or an unverified cloud entry as proof that the intended save is recoverable.
For Schrödinger’s Call, do not assume that a cloud entry for one edition automatically becomes the save for the other. The native Switch 2 edition has its own first-launch import rule from the publisher, so make the original save available on the Switch 2 before that first launch.
What if I am trading in the old Switch before the Switch 2 arrives?
Nintendo documents a server-based full-system transfer for this situation. The old console uploads the transfer to Nintendo’s server and is initialized afterward. Nintendo says the stored transfer remains available for up to one year, with an individual download deadline displayed to the user.

- Complete the initialization warning only after confirming that the old console is ready to be surrendered.
- When the Switch 2 arrives, start its initial setup with the same Nintendo Account.

This server transfer is not the same as an ordinary Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud backup. Retrieval must happen during Switch 2 initial setup, whereas an individual nearby save transfer can be used after setup if the old console remains available.
How does the native Schrödinger’s Call Switch 2 edition change the process?
The native edition is a separate Switch 2 digital product, not a generic upgrade pack established by the available listing. The original Switch edition is also listed as playable on Switch 2, so you can continue using that compatible version without importing into the native edition.
If you want to keep using the original Switch edition
Transfer or download its save by any of the three Nintendo routes, install or redownload the original edition on Switch 2, and launch that compatible version. Its compatibility does not require buying the native edition.
If you want the native Switch 2 edition
- Move or download the original Switch-version save to the Switch 2.
- Confirm that the save is visible for the original edition and belongs to the intended Nintendo Account.
- Only then launch the native Switch 2 edition for the first time.
- Use the first-launch import offered by the publisher’s implementation.
The publisher’s Nintendo US notice says: “Save data cannot be transferred from the Nintendo Switch 2 version to the Nintendo Switch version.” In practical terms, plan the migration in one direction: original Switch save first, native Switch 2 launch second. No documented retry procedure has been established if the native edition was opened before the old save was available.

What should I do if I already opened the native edition?
Do not delete the native save, reset the Switch 2 or assume a second launch will reopen the import. The official notice restricts import to the native edition’s first launch, and the available instructions do not document a safe recovery sequence after that point.
Preserve the original Switch save and contact the publisher’s support channel for an authoritative remedy. Keep the Nintendo Account, game edition and any displayed save dates available when requesting help.

The game opens without the expected progress
Confirm that you launched the same edition whose save was transferred. An original Switch save can run with the compatible original edition; it is not automatically proof that a separately sold native edition has imported it. Also check the user profile, because saves belong to the account profile used during transfer.
The cloud menu shows no usable backup
Check the Nintendo Account and the displayed title. A Nintendo Switch Online membership does not create a missing historical backup, and a physical cartridge or storage card is not a substitute for one. If the old console is still available, use individual nearby transfer instead.
The destination already contains progress
Stop before accepting the receive prompt. Nintendo warns that receiving can overwrite the target save irreversibly. Decide which progress is authoritative before proceeding.

The old console is gone and no cloud backup exists
The documented recovery paths require either Nintendo’s server-transfer upload made before the old console was initialized or an existing Nintendo Switch Online backup. The available instructions do not establish a separate recovery method for an unbacked-up save.
Does buying a different edition transfer progress automatically?
No automatic shared-progress claim is established for these products. Urban Myth Dissolution Center’s original Switch edition is compatible with Switch 2. What is the safest order of operations?
- Decide whether you will play the compatible original edition or the native Schrödinger’s Call edition.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a microSD Express card required to transfer these saves?
No. A Switch 2-compatible microSD Express card is optional expanded storage for downloaded games; it is not a requirement for System Transfer, nearby save transfer or cloud download. Save-transfer eligibility comes from Nintendo’s account and transfer systems, not the storage card.
Does the game cartridge contain my save data?
No. The cartridge supplies the game software, while save data is handled by the console and, when configured, Nintendo’s cloud service. Having the card or copying files to a memory card does not create the backup needed for these procedures.
Can I recover a server transfer after Nintendo’s displayed deadline?
Nintendo states that the uploaded transfer is available for up to one year and shows a specific download deadline. The available instructions do not document a recovery process after that deadline, so download the transfer during initial setup rather than relying on an extension.
