transmitvrhost.dll is an Adobe Premiere Pro application DLL, not a Windows system file. If Windows reports that transmitvrhost.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair the Premiere installation that originally supplied it instead of downloading a replacement DLL.
Identify the Premiere installation first
Adobe crash reports show this file inside Premiere folders such as:

The file has appeared in Adobe crash reports for Premiere builds including 12.1.0.186, 13.0.0.225, 13.1.2.9, and 14.3.2.42. Those reports establish that Premiere loads the DLL, but they do not document its internal function.

Different messages point to different problems:
- “The program can’t start because transmitvrhost.dll is missing from your computer.” The file may have been deleted, quarantined, or left out of an incomplete installation.
- “The code execution cannot proceed because transmitvrhost.dll was not found.” Premiere or its launcher could not locate the file in the expected application directory.
- “Error loading transmitvrhost.dll. The specified module could not be found.” The named DLL may be missing, but Windows may instead be unable to find one of its dependencies.
- “The procedure entry point was not found in transmitvrhost.dll.” The DLL and the rest of Premiere may come from incompatible builds.
- “transmitvrhost.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.” The file, a dependency, or the installation may be corrupted, incomplete, or the wrong architecture.
A crash report that lists TransmitVRHost.dll does not prove that this DLL caused the crash. It may simply have been loaded when Premiere stopped.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall Premiere through Creative Cloud
This is the most likely solution when the file is missing, corrupted, quarantined, or mismatched.
Check the installed version
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
- Select Apps.
- Open All Apps.
- Find Premiere and note whether it is the current installation or a legacy version.
- If Premiere opens far enough to show its interface, select Help > About Premiere Pro and record the build number.
Do not copy TransmitVRHost.dll from a different Premiere folder. CC 2018, CC 2019, and Premiere Pro 2020 can contain different sets of matching binaries.
Reinstall the affected Premiere version
- Close Premiere Pro.
- Close other Adobe applications.
- In Creative Cloud, select Apps > All Apps.
- Find Premiere.
- Select the More actions button, shown as three dots.
- Choose Uninstall.
- When prompted, choose whether to keep or remove preferences.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Creative Cloud again.
- Install Premiere from the available official Adobe listing.
If you need an older Premiere release, availability depends on your Adobe account, license, and access to the required installer. Do not assume that every account still offers CC 2018 or CC 2019.
After installation, launch Premiere before restoring custom plug-ins or manually copying old settings. A successful repair should recreate TransmitVRHost.dll inside the matching Premiere directory and remove the original startup error.
If Creative Cloud itself is malfunctioning, use Adobe’s official Creative Cloud desktop-app uninstaller and choose Repair when that option is available. Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app only if repair does not work, then reinstall it through Adobe.
Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine and protection history
Security software can remove or quarantine an application DLL after an update or a scan.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
TransmitVRHost.dll, Premiere, or an Adobe installation directory. - Record the detection name, date, and original file path.
- Check any separate antivirus or endpoint-security console for additional quarantine records.
- Run a full malware scan before restoring anything.
Do not blindly restore the file. If the detection is understood and the file is confirmed to be part of the Adobe installation, restore it only according to your security software’s controls. Then repair or reinstall Premiere through Creative Cloud so the complete matching set of Adobe files is restored.

- Built for video editors: Premiere Pro's most-used commands come pre-mapped one per key, named and color-coded so you can scan quickly while you cut.
- Remap anything in KeyStudio, the browser-based remapping tool we built for Dash keyboard. Nothing to install, and the layout saves onto the keyboard so it works the same on every machine you use.
- 20 spare shortcut keycaps in the box: move the keys to match the way you actually cut and grade, rather than learning someone else's layout.
- The compact, low-profile design frees desk space and keeps your mouse within reach for better posture. Winner of the Red Dot Product Design Award in 2025 and designed in Vancouver, Canada. We've been building tools for creative work since 2009, and every Dash comes a 12 month warranty.
- Tri-mode connection across Mac, PC, iOS, iPadOS, Android and Linux: Bluetooth for three devices, 2.4GHz wireless or USB-C wired, on a 3500mAh battery good for 450 hours.
If the error began immediately after antivirus action, preserve the quarantine record. It can help Adobe support determine whether the file was removed, blocked, or falsely detected.
Fix 3: Determine whether a dependency is missing
The phrase “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that transmitvrhost.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found the Adobe DLL but failed to load a dependency required by it.
Look at the entire error message for names such as:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
VCRUNTIME140.dllMSVCP140.dllapi-ms-win-crt-*.dll- Another Adobe DLL
If the message names a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, use Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads. Choose the package architecture required by the application and operating system. Microsoft identifies packages such as vc_redist.x64.exe, vc_redist.x86.exe, and vc_redist.arm64.exe.
For a modern 64-bit Premiere installation on a 64-bit Windows system, the x64 package is generally the relevant starting point, but follow the architecture indicated by the complete error and installer. Repair the existing package from Settings > Apps > Installed apps if it is already present, or install the official Microsoft package.
Microsoft advises downloading redistributables only from Microsoft and using Microsoft-signed packages. Multiple Visual C++ Redistributables can correctly coexist, so do not remove every runtime because one repair attempt failed.
If the complete error names another Adobe DLL, reinstall Premiere rather than repairing TransmitVRHost.dll in isolation.

- WHO IT IS FOR: Video editors, YouTubers, content creators, filmmakers and film students working in Adobe Premiere Pro on Mac. Please check the compatibility image before ordering.
This is likely when:
- Premiere worked before an update.
- The error appeared after an interrupted installation or restart.
- The file exists, but Premiere reports an entry-point or bad-image error.
- Several Adobe DLLs are named in the error or crash log.
Do not replace only the named DLL. In Creative Cloud, uninstall the affected Premiere installation, restart Windows, and install it again. If multiple Premiere versions are installed, identify which shortcut and installation folder produces the error before removing anything.
Also check whether a disk cleanup utility, backup restoration, migration, or manual folder move changed the installation. Premiere application folders should not be moved between drives or computers by copying individual files.
Fix 5: Reset Premiere preferences and plug-in loading
If TransmitVRHost.dll is present and the message is actually a crash rather than a missing-file dialog, the cause may be preferences, media cache, a plug-in, a GPU driver, or compatibility.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Try these steps:
- Close Premiere.
- Hold Alt while launching Premiere to reset preferences.
- If the problem continues, hold Shift while launching to reset the plug-in loading cache.
- If Premiere opens, use its preferences and cache settings to clear media-cache data.
- Temporarily remove or disable third-party Premiere plug-ins.
- Update Premiere through Creative Cloud.
- Check that your Windows build and graphics driver meet the requirements for the installed Premiere version.
Adobe’s reset options can vary by release. If a keyboard shortcut does not produce a reset prompt, use the Premiere troubleshooting options available for your installed version rather than deleting folders at random.
Fix 6: Update the graphics driver only when the symptom points there
A graphics driver is not a replacement for TransmitVRHost.dll, and updating it is not the first response to a direct missing-file message. Consider this path when Premiere launches but crashes during startup, playback, rendering, or hardware acceleration.
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Properties and check the current driver details.
- Use Update driver or obtain the driver from the graphics-device manufacturer.
- Restart Windows.
- Test Premiere again.
Avoid driver-pack websites and do not install a 32-bit driver on a 64-bit system. If Premiere works after disabling hardware acceleration or after a clean, compatible driver update, the problem was likely separate from the missing Adobe DLL.
When manually checking several graphics-driver models and versions becomes confusing, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan identifies what it finds, while driver installation is handled by the full version. Reinstalling Premiere remains the definitive fix when transmitvrhost.dll itself is absent.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components as a secondary step
TransmitVRHost.dll is not a Windows component, so System File Checker normally will not restore it. Use Windows repair commands when other applications also show damaged-system symptoms, Windows files are failing, or the Adobe installer cannot run correctly.
- Install pending Windows updates.
- Restart the computer.
- Open Start, type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test Premiere again.
Microsoft documents the DISM and SFC repair sequence. DISM should run before SFC. If either command reports that it could not complete, record the exact result and repair Premiere separately through Creative Cloud.

If you prefer help identifying which Windows components need attention rather than repeatedly running commands and interpreting logs, Outbyte PC Repair can scan and show detected issues; repairs are performed by the full version. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling Premiere when the Adobe DLL is missing.
Fix 8: Use System Restore only for a known system change
System Restore is reasonable if the problem began immediately after a known driver, Windows, or system change and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows key, type
Create a restore point, and open it. - Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point created before the problem began.
- Review the affected applications and drivers.
- Complete the restore and restart Windows.
System Restore is not a substitute for reinstalling Premiere. It may not restore an Adobe application DLL and should not be used merely because the file name looks like a Windows component.
What not to do
Do not download the DLL from a random site
A downloaded copy can contain malware, be the wrong architecture, belong to another Premiere build, or require dependencies that your installation still lacks. It also leaves the rest of Premiere’s files mismatched.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud for Premiere and Microsoft for Visual C++ Redistributables. Never copy this application DLL into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 registers DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. There is no evidence that TransmitVRHost.dll is a COM or ActiveX component requiring registration.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A command such as this is normally inappropriate:
regsvr32 transmitvrhost.dll
It may produce an error saying that the entry point was not found, and it will not repair a missing, corrupted, or mismatched Premiere installation. Microsoft’s regsvr32 reference explains its intended component-registration use.
Do not enable random Windows Features
Windows Features do not provide this Adobe application DLL. Enabling legacy components or unrelated runtimes can introduce new compatibility problems without repairing Premiere.
If Premiere still will not start
Collect these details before contacting Adobe support:
- The complete error text
- The Premiere version and build
- The full installation path
- Your Windows edition and build
- Whether Windows is 64-bit
- Antivirus detection and quarantine history
- Whether the file exists in the Premiere folder
- Creative Cloud installation logs
- Any Premiere crash report
- Whether the issue began after an update, cleanup, migration, or restore
If the file exists but Premiere still crashes, focus on preferences, plug-ins, cache data, graphics drivers, and compatibility rather than repeatedly replacing the DLL. If the file is absent, reinstall the matching Premiere version through Creative Cloud.
