If you’re choosing between Turtle Beach’s Rematch Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro Controller, the main trade-off is TMR thumbsticks and wider Switch-family compatibility versus Nintendo’s feature set, including a headset jack. Neither is the better choice for everyone: pick the Rematch Wireless if those sticks, its designs, and use across Switch generations matter most; pick Nintendo’s Pro Controller if you want its first-party features, including rumble, NFC, and console wake from sleep as reported in TechRadar’s February 2026 comparison.

This comparison is specifically about the Rematch Wireless. Turtle Beach also sells a distinct wired Rematch with different sticks, a cable, and a headset jack.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the Rematch Wireless if stick technology and compatibility come first

Turtle Beach’s listed TMR sticks and compatibility with four Switch-family systems make the Rematch Wireless a natural fit if you want one wireless controller for Switch 2 and an older Switch. TMR is a different stick technology from the conventional sticks TechRadar says are in Nintendo’s Pro Controller. That distinction may matter if you are shopping with stick wear or drift concerns in mind, but the technology alone is not proof that a controller is drift-proof.

  • Capture Button
  • C Button for GameChat**

The Rematch also offers a choice of designs and mappable back buttons, according to Turtle Beach. Its February 2026 comparison price was lower than Nintendo’s in all three listed currencies. Whether that gap is worthwhile depends on what you would miss: TechRadar says the wireless Rematch lacks rumble and NFC and cannot wake the console from sleep.

Choose Nintendo’s Pro Controller if you want the first-party feature mix

Nintendo’s controller includes the C Button, mappable GL/GR buttons, and a headset jack, according to Nintendo. TechRadar’s comparison additionally reports rumble, NFC, and wake-from-sleep support. Choose it if those features matter more to you than the Rematch Wireless’s TMR sticks, designs, and cross-generation compatibility.

Nintendo specifies that the Switch 2 Pro Controller works with Switch 2 only. It is not the same product as the older Nintendo Switch Pro Controller: Nintendo says that older controller can connect wirelessly to Switch 2. If you already own the older model, check Nintendo’s compatibility guidance rather than assuming the two Pro Controllers have the same feature set.

Sticks, rumble, NFC, and audio: the practical trade-offs

Thumbsticks

Turtle Beach advertises TMR thumbsticks for the Rematch Wireless. TechRadar says Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro Controller has neither TMR nor Hall-Effect sticks. These are different hardware approaches, but the available product information does not establish that either controller is immune to drift or show comparative long-term failure rates.

Rumble and NFC

TechRadar reports that Nintendo’s controller has rumble and NFC, while the Rematch Wireless has neither. If you use vibration feedback or NFC functionality, account for those omissions before choosing the Rematch; they are not differences you can resolve by changing the controller’s mappings.

Headsets

Nintendo confirms a headset jack on the Switch 2 Pro Controller. Turtle Beach’s wireless Rematch specification does not list a headset jack, so do not assume the wired Rematch’s audio connection carries over to the wireless model.

Back buttons and the C Button

Both controllers list a C Button and rear buttons that can be mapped: Turtle Beach calls its controls back buttons, while Nintendo identifies its pair as GL/GR. If you need remappable rear controls, both offer them; compare the rest of each controller’s feature set rather than treating that shared feature as a deciding advantage.

Wireless runtime, range, and price

Turtle Beach rates the Rematch Wireless for up to 40 hours per charge with RGB lighting off, or up to 12 hours with RGB effects on, and lists wireless range of up to 30 feet. These are manufacturer-stated maximums, and the lighting condition materially changes the battery claim. TechRadar’s February 2026 comparison lists 40 hours for Nintendo’s controller, without a test method or conditions in the cited comparison; the figures are not directly comparable independent measurements.

For the main wireless comparison, TechRadar listed the Rematch Wireless at $64.99 / £54.99 / AU$99 and the Switch 2 Pro Controller at $84.99 / £74.99 / AU$119.95 in February 2026. Those are dated comparison prices. Availability, retailer pricing, and local offers can change, so check current listings for the exact model and region.

Do not confuse the wireless Rematch with the wired model

Turtle Beach’s separate Rematch Wired Controller is not a lower-priced version of the wireless controller with the same specifications. Its product page lists Hall-Effect sticks, a 10-foot cable, and a 3.5mm headset jack; it does not use the wireless model’s listed TMR sticks or wireless connection. The page listed a full price of $29.99 when accessed in 2026. Treat that as a dated listing for the wired variant, not the current price of Rematch Wireless.

The wired model may suit you if you want a cabled controller and a headset connection, but it answers a different buying question. Compare it separately if wireless play is not a requirement.

What TechRadar’s hands-on comparison adds

TechRadar says its review was first published in February 2026 and that its reviewer tested the Rematch over multiple weeks, comparing it with other wireless controllers across Switch 2, original Switch, and retro games. The review also discusses motion-control games and Switch 2 exclusives. Its comments about comfort, build feel, and practical use are reviewer judgments, not manufacturer specifications or a claim that every player will have the same experience.

That distinction matters when choosing: official compatibility and feature lists can tell you what is supported, but they cannot settle personal preferences such as grip comfort. If comfort is your deciding factor, use the review as one person’s account rather than as a universal verdict.
