Ubisoft has proposed closing its Helsinki-based RedLynx studio, the team best known for the Trials series, while separately affecting 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore. RedLynx’s closure is not final: Finland’s mandatory change-negotiation process must be completed before Ubisoft can make a definitive decision. Singapore is being downsized and reorganized, not closed.
The two actions are part of Ubisoft’s wider effort to restore profitability after a reported €1.5 billion net loss in fiscal 2025–26. The company says RedLynx has no new project that would make the studio sustainable, while Singapore is being aligned with upcoming production needs.

Is RedLynx actually closing or is it only a proposal?
It is currently a proposal, not a legally completed closure. On October 14, 2026, Ubisoft told employees it had proposed closing RedLynx in Finland, putting up to 52 positions at risk.
Finnish law requires qualifying employer decisions that affect jobs to go through local change negotiations. Those discussions must finish before Ubisoft can confirm whether the studio will close, how many people ultimately leave, or when any closure would take effect. Ubisoft has not announced a final date or final headcount.

VGC reported that RedLynx had not been assigned a new project and that simply resizing the team would not make it sustainable. That is Ubisoft’s stated business rationale, rather than a finding that the studio has already ceased operating.
How many Ubisoft jobs are being cut in Singapore?
Ubisoft said 70 positions at its Singapore studio were affected as it aligned the operation with upcoming production needs. Unlike RedLynx, Ubisoft Singapore was not announced for closure; the company described the action as a downsizing and restructuring.
Ubisoft also said Singapore “remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organisation.” The statement does not specify how many employees will remain, which teams will change, or whether every affected position represents an immediate departure.
What is the difference between the RedLynx proposal and the Singapore cuts?
The studios face different legal statuses and strategic roles. The key distinctions are:

The Straits Times reported that Ubisoft Singapore had 450 employees in 2023. Ubisoft’s latest statement emphasizes the studio’s continuing role in supporting other teams rather than identifying it with a single franchise or announcing a shutdown.
Are the studio actions part of a wider Ubisoft restructuring?
Yes. CNA reported that Ubisoft is seeking to return to profitability after a €1.5 billion net loss in fiscal 2025–26. The company has announced at least €200 million in spending cuts over two years, following an earlier €300 million targeted-savings plan.

The Straits Times quoted former local International Game Developers Association coordinator and Boomzap co-founder Allan Simonsen, who said the Singapore office was feeling a company-wide tightening of spending. The available statements frame the decisions as financial and organisational restructuring, not as an isolated change at either studio.
Did AI cause the Ubisoft Singapore layoffs?
Ubisoft has not disclosed AI as a cause of the Singapore job reductions. Reporting by The Straits Times connected the action to the company’s financial performance and reorganisation, while noting that experts considered those factors more relevant than AI based on the information available.

What support is available to affected workers?
In Singapore, NTUC’s e2i, the Skills and Workforce Development Agency, the Ministry of Manpower and the Creative Media and Publishing Union are providing or coordinating career coaching, job matching, skills-upgrading advice and transition assistance.
The union has also called for workers to be treated fairly and with dignity, taking into account the effect retrenchment can have on employees and their families. RedLynx employees remain within Finland’s negotiation process, so their final options depend on the outcome of those talks.

When will RedLynx close?
Ubisoft has not set a closure date. The company must first complete Finland’s change negotiations, and the outcome could affect both the final headcount and whether the proposed closure proceeds as announced.

Ubisoft has not named the projects or teams behind that phrase. It indicates a staffing realignment around future work, but the company has not published enough detail to map the 70 affected positions to specific games.
