How do I fix the error first?
Follow the steps in order. Each step uses the official game or launcher installation and is reversible until you choose to uninstall a client.
1. Close the game and completely restart Ubisoft Connect
- Exit the game and close its window.
- Close Ubisoft Connect from its own menu or notification-area icon. If the client remains open, right-click the Ubisoft Connect icon near the clock and choose the exit command.
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. On the Processes tab, end any remaining Ubisoft Connect process and the affected game process. Do not terminate unrelated Windows processes. - Start Ubisoft Connect again, sign in to the account that owns the game, and launch the title. A transient client lock or incomplete shutdown can clear after a full restart.

Verification compares the installed game files with the launcher’s records and replaces files that are missing or corrupted. Ubisoft’s help guidance describes this as the repair function for corrupted game files.
- Open Ubisoft Connect and select Games or your library.
- Select the affected title and open its Properties, Manage, or three-dot menu. The exact label can vary with the current client version.
- Choose Verify files (sometimes shown as a verification or repair command) and confirm.
- Let the scan finish without pausing it. If Ubisoft Connect offers to download or replace files, allow the operation to complete.
- Install any game or client update offered after verification, then restart Ubisoft Connect and launch the game.
A verification run can report that no changes were needed. That result means the launcher found no difference in the installation it checked; it does not prove that you selected the intended copy of the game or that a security product did not quarantine a file. Use the checks later in this guide if the error remains.
3. Reinstall Ubisoft Connect if verification does not help

- Close Ubisoft Connect and the game completely, including any remaining processes in Task Manager.
- In Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps > Apps & features (Windows 10).
- Find Ubisoft Connect, choose its uninstall command, and complete the wizard. Read each prompt so you do not deliberately remove a game installation you intend to keep.
- Download the current Ubisoft Connect installer from Ubisoft’s official source, install it, and sign in to the account that owns the title.
- Open the game in the new client and run Verify files again before launching. If the game was installed through another store, start the owning store’s installation or repair workflow as well when its client reports a problem.

When is Microsoft Visual C++ the real problem?
Handle Visual C++ as a separate dependency only when the complete dialog names a Microsoft runtime such as MSVCP140.dll, VCRUNTIME140.dll, or another runtime component, or when the game’s official prerequisites specifically call for it. A message naming that dependency is not repaired by replacing uplay_r1_loader64.dll.
Microsoft states that “The redistributable package architecture must match your app’s target architecture.” Use Microsoft’s current redistributable package for the architecture required by the game: x86 for a 32-bit application, x64 for a 64-bit application, or ARM64 for an ARM64 application. If the installer offers a repair option, use it; otherwise install the matching package, restart Windows, and test the game.
- Do not install an x64 package merely because Windows itself is 64-bit if the affected game is 32-bit.
