vobinput.dll is an old 32-bit input plugin for BeSweet, the legacy Windows audio transcoder, and front ends such as BeLight. If vobinput.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, restore the matching plugin beside BeSweet.exe rather than copying it into a Windows system folder.
This is not a Windows system DLL. It does not come from Windows, Visual C++, DirectX, .NET, or a modern driver package. Historical BeSweet documentation describes it as a separate VOB input component placed in the BeSweet directory (command reference). Historical logs identify a VOBInput.dll v1.3 build associated with DVD2SVCD, while other indexes list different metadata. Treat those builds as potentially incompatible.

Fix 1: Restore the plugin beside BeSweet.exe
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
This is the safest and most likely fix if BeSweet or BeLight reports a missing file.
- Close BeSweet, BeLight, and any DVD conversion front end.
- Find the folder containing
BeSweet.exe. - Right-click the BeSweet shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Check Target, then open that folder in File Explorer.
- Obtain the complete BeSweet or BeLight package from the original software distribution, a trusted archive, or a known-good copy from the same installation set. The plugin should match the BeSweet release.
- Extract
VOBInput.dlldirectly into the folder containingBeSweet.exe. - If you use BeLight, confirm that its configured BeSweet executable points to this same folder.
- Start the application again and retry the operation.
The file normally belongs beside the executable or in the plugin directory documented by that specific package. Do not put it in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.

The fix worked if the application starts and no longer reports that the VOB input interface is missing. If the error remains, do not immediately download another standalone DLL. Continue with the matching-version and compatibility checks below.
Fix 2: Check the exact error and plugin build
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
BeSweet-era software commonly reports:

Other reported wording includes “vobinput.dll was not found,” “The specified module could not be found,” and “The file is missing or corrupted.” Those generic messages do not prove that Windows itself owns the file.
A particularly important distinction is between a missing file and an interface failure. Error 75 can mean that BeSweet found the DLL but could not initialize the expected interface. Common reasons include:

- A 32-bit application is loading an incompatible build.
- The DLL was only partially extracted.
- BeLight is launching a different
BeSweet.exethan the one you repaired. - The VOB or selected audio stream is unsuitable for the old input plugin.
Historical references cite both version 1.3 and a separate third-party metadata entry for 1.2.0.2. Do not select a file merely because its version number looks newer. Use the plugin bundled or documented for the exact BeSweet package you are running.
Fix 3: Remove blocking and check antivirus quarantine
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
A trusted DLL can fail after an incomplete extraction, an NTFS download block, or antivirus quarantine.

First check the file itself:
- Open the BeSweet folder.
- Right-click
VOBInput.dlland select Properties. - On the General tab, look for an Unblock checkbox or button.
- If present, select it, choose Apply, and select OK.
- Extract the file again if its size is unexpectedly small or the archive reported an error.
Then check Microsoft Defender:
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an action involving
VOBInput.dllor the BeSweet folder. - Record the detection name and original path before taking action.
Only restore a quarantined file after verifying its source and integrity. Microsoft warns that restoring a file can cause Defender to detect it again (Protection history guidance). Do not broadly disable antivirus protection to make an old program run.
If Defender removed the file, the safer remedy is to obtain a clean, complete BeSweet package from a trusted original source and scan it before extraction.

Old BeSweet front ends can behave badly when installed under protected folders, redirected locations, or cloud-synchronized profiles.
- Create a folder such as
C:ToolsBeSweet. - Copy or extract the complete BeSweet package into that folder.
- Confirm that
BeSweet.exe, the front end, andVOBInput.dllare together as required. - Start the front end and select the new
BeSweet.exepath in its settings. - Right-click the application shortcut, select Properties, open Compatibility, and test the available compatibility settings if the program still crashes.
- Use Run as administrator only for testing or when the application genuinely needs permission to write to its selected output folder.
A successful result is a launch from the new folder without a missing-plugin message. Compatibility mode is not guaranteed to make this obsolete software reliable on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Fix 5: Use a demux-first workflow instead
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
If the plugin is present but BeSweet still returns Error 75, stop treating the problem as a simple missing-file error. The VOB may contain multiple segments, encrypted content, several audio streams, or an encoding format that the old plugin cannot initialize.

A more reliable workflow is:
- Work from a legally copied or otherwise permitted DVD source.
- Identify the correct title and audio stream.
- Demultiplex the VOB into its audio stream using a maintained media utility.
- Select the resulting AC-3, MP2, or other supported audio file in BeSweet or a current converter.
- Process the extracted audio instead of asking the obsolete plugin to read the VOB directly.
This avoids the VOB input interface that is failing. It is also the practical choice when the old program crashes even after the correctly matched plugin is restored.

Fix 6: Repair or reinstall the parent application
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
There is no verified current Microsoft redistributable that contains vobinput.dll. Installing Visual C++ merely because the missing item ends in .dll is not an evidence-based fix.
If BeSweet or its front end was installed through a normal Windows application entry:
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find BeSweet, BeLight, or the DVD conversion program that installed it.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application and test the VOB operation.
If Repair is unavailable, uninstall the parent application, restart Windows, and reinstall the complete package from a trusted original installer or archive. Ensure the matching plugin is included and placed beside the executable afterward. Microsoft documents the repair and uninstall path here.
The repair worked when the application and its VOB operation run from the same installation folder. Reinstalling the parent program remains the definitive fix when its private files are incomplete.

Fix 7: Rule out unrelated Windows and driver problems
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
vobinput.dll is not a Windows driver and is not normally repaired through Device Manager. Still, if the entire media application is unstable, check whether Windows has a separate graphics or audio-device problem:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers and Display adapters.
- Look for a warning icon.
- Right-click the affected device and choose Update driver.
- If the problem began after a driver update, open Properties > Driver and review Roll Back Driver, when available.
- Restart Windows and test BeSweet again.
Do not install a 64-bit DLL into this 32-bit application. Historical evidence identifies the plugin as a 32-bit Win32 component, and a reliable 64-bit build has not been verified.

SFC and DISM do not normally restore a third-party BeSweet plugin. Use them only when other protected Windows components are also failing.

Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC (Microsoft’s instructions). If these commands report repaired Windows components but BeSweet still cannot load VOBInput.dll, repair the BeSweet installation instead.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without knowing what changed is rarely useful for this file. It is optional, and it does not replace restoring the matching BeSweet plugin.
Why vobinput.dll fails
The likely causes, in order, are:

Do not register or download a random DLL
regsvr32 is normally not applicable. VOBInput.dll is used through BeSweet’s application-specific interface; it is not established as a COM or ActiveX component that needs Windows registration. Registration errors do not fix a missing BeSweet plugin.

Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64. Do not download an isolated DLL from a random DLL website. Such files may contain malware, use the wrong architecture, come from the wrong build, or still fail because the parent application and plugin interface do not match. There is no verified current official Microsoft download for this file.

Is vobinput.dll a Windows file?
No. It is a legacy third-party plugin associated primarily with BeSweet, BeLight, and older DVD conversion software that incorporated BeSweet.
Where should vobinput.dll go?
Normally in the same folder as BeSweet.exe, or in the documented plugin folder for that particular package. It should not go in System32 or SysWOW64.
