Historical notice: Walmart’s November 2023 Black Friday promotions have expired. The ad listed a $199 Nintendo Switch Lite, a $799 Galaxy S23, several laptops and accessories, and “up to $1,300 in savings” on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. That iPhone figure was conditional on an AT&T unlimited plan, an eligible trade-in and a $300 Walmart eGift Card—not a simple $1,300 price cut.
The offers and dates below are preserved as a guide to what Walmart advertised in 2023, not as current prices or purchasable deals. The reported Walmart ad was published on November 16, 2023.

When Walmart’s 2023 Black Friday sale started
Walmart used a staged online and in-store release:
- Walmart+ early access: Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
- General online access: Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
- In-store event: Friday, November 24, 2023, at 6:00 a.m. local time.
The retailer reportedly planned to disclose additional deals on November 20. Online access did not guarantee stock at every store, and availability could vary by inventory, delivery location and account eligibility. Walmart’s historical deal portal was walmart.com/shop/deals/black-friday.

The cited coverage also discussed other electronics, including TVs, but the available information here does not provide enough model and specification detail to evaluate those offers individually.
Was the iPhone 15 Pro really $1,300 off?
No—not as an unconditional hardware discount. Walmart advertised up to $1,300 in promotional savings on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, but the maximum depended on combining several separate benefits:
- Buying a qualifying iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
- Activating or maintaining an AT&T unlimited plan.
- Trading in an eligible device in qualifying condition.
- Receiving a $300 Walmart eGift Card.
That makes the headline a maximum promotional-value figure. It does not mean every customer could purchase the phone for $1,300 less than its normal price, nor that an unlocked buyer received the same value. The available report also said that some iPhone 14 models and the Galaxy S23 could receive savings under related wireless offers, but those were not necessarily governed by the same amounts or eligibility rules.

- Which storage capacities and exact models qualified.
- Which trade-in phones qualified and how condition affected value.
- Whether trade-in value arrived immediately or through later bill credits.
- How long the AT&T service had to remain active.
- Activation, upgrade, taxes and other excluded charges.
- When the $300 eGift Card was issued and any redemption restrictions.
- What happened to promotional credits or benefits after early cancellation.
- Whether the handset was carrier-locked and when it could be unlocked.
The historical article referenced Walmart’s wireless-event terms page, but old terms pages can redirect or change. The cited coverage does not establish the precise credit schedule, lock policy or gift-card timing, so those details should not be inferred from the “up to” number.
Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus: two different offers
Walmart’s ad listed the 128GB Galaxy S23 at $799 and the 128GB Galaxy S23 Plus at $1,049 with an AT&T or Verizon 36-month deal. These should not be treated as one Galaxy S23 promotion.
The Plus offer was explicitly tied to a long-term carrier arrangement. Its effective value therefore depended on the monthly plan, financing structure, trade-in rules, activation requirements and the consequences of leaving before 36 months. A shopper who already intended to stay with AT&T or Verizon could evaluate that offer differently from someone using a low-cost MVNO or wanting an unlocked phone.
The reported $799 base-S23 listing is easier to read as a price, but the available source does not say whether it was unlocked or carrier-specific, new or restored, activation-dependent, or available online and in stores. Those details would have needed confirmation from the original listing or terms.

Nintendo Switch Lite at $199: who it suited
The advertised $199 Nintendo Switch Lite Timmy & Tommy’s Aloha Edition was most relevant to buyers who specifically wanted a portable console or the themed design. The Switch Lite is handheld-only: it does not connect to a television through a dock, and its controls are not detachable in the same way as those on the standard Switch.
That distinction matters more than the special-edition name. Someone who wanted TV play, local multiplayer with detachable controllers or a larger-screen console could get better value from a standard Switch system or bundle at a comparable overall price. The cited ad confirms the special-edition console and price, but does not independently establish that a game, case or other accessory was included. Buyers should not assume it was a game bundle.
Other notable electronics
Wearables and headphones
The Apple Watch SE 41mm GPS was listed at $179, while AirPods Pro 2 were listed at $169. Beats Studio3 Wireless headphones were listed at $99, with Walmart describing that as $250.95 in savings. These are comparatively simple price offers, but shoppers would still need to check the exact generation, color, seller, return policy and whether the product was new.

The $299 restored iPad Pro bundle and $399 restored MacBook Air bundle should not be compared directly with new products without accounting for condition. “Restored” does not, by itself, identify who performed the work or what warranty applies.

For either product, the important checks were the exact model year and processor, cosmetic grade, battery health where applicable, included charger and accessories, return period, warranty provider and restoration standard. A low price could be reasonable, but the ad alone does not provide enough information to judge either bundle’s condition or long-term value.
Laptops
The ASUS Vivobook was listed at $499, the HP 14-inch FHD Pavilion x360 at $449 and an HP 15.6-inch laptop at $249. Their advertised savings were $100, $150 and $130 respectively. Those figures were not enough to establish which was the better buy. A meaningful comparison required the processor generation, RAM, SSD capacity, display panel, ports, wireless standard, operating-system support and warranty.

Recommended Free Tools
The iPhone promotion and Galaxy S23 Plus deal were different. They combined hardware with carrier incentives, trade-in value, a gift card or a 36-month commitment. Their headline figures should be evaluated as total-cost-of-ownership offers, not as ordinary shelf-price reductions.

Who should have considered these offers?
- Existing AT&T or Verizon customers: Carrier promotions could make sense if the required plan and service duration already matched their needs.
- Unlocked-phone shoppers: The iPhone headline was a poor match unless the carrier conditions were acceptable. A direct unlocked purchase offered more predictable ownership, even if it lacked the maximum promotion.
- Low-cost-carrier users: A high monthly plan, activation requirement or forfeited bill credits could erase the apparent phone savings.
- Portable-only gamers: The Switch Lite made more sense when TV output and detachable controllers were unnecessary.
- Refurbished-device shoppers: The restored iPad Pro and MacBook Air required clear seller, battery, warranty and return information before purchase.
Black Friday deal checklist
For any similar Walmart wireless or electronics promotion, check these details before treating the advertised price as your real cost:
- Confirm the exact model, storage capacity and configuration.
- Separate an outright price from financing, bill credits and gift-card value.
- Read the trade-in eligibility and condition requirements.
- Check whether the phone is unlocked or carrier-locked.
- Calculate the carrier plan cost over the required service period.
- Look for activation, upgrade, taxes and other fees.
- Confirm when promotional credits and gift cards are delivered.
- Check the cancellation consequences before the promotion ends.
- For restored devices, identify the seller, restoration standard, battery condition, warranty and return window.
- Verify local inventory, online stock and delivery eligibility.
How these 2023 deals look from 2026
These promotions should be treated as expired historical offers as of August 2026. Current product pages or later sales do not prove that Walmart is honoring the 2023 prices.
The iPhone 15 Pro, Galaxy S23 and Nintendo Switch Lite pages are useful official references for the products, not evidence of current Walmart pricing or the old promotion’s terms. In 2026, buyers should also compare the remaining software-support life and price of older phones with newer models. Manufacturer-refurbished products may offer clearer warranty and refurbishment standards than an ambiguously labeled restored marketplace item.
