Want a Gaming TV Upgrade in Time for GTA 6? Here Are 3 Strong Options

Three gaming TV options for a GTA 6 upgrade, with reported features and guidance on OLED vs. Mini-LED, bright rooms, HDMI 2.1, and what Rockstar has confirmed.

If you’re buying a TV ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI, choose for your room and budget—not for a promised GTA 6 performance mode. Rockstar lists the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 release date, but its official page does not specify the game’s resolution, frame rate, HDR format, or VRR support. Three well-rounded options to compare are the LG C5 OLED, TCL QM6K/C6K Mini-LED, and Samsung QN90F. Their reported gaming features suit different needs, but none can guarantee how GTA 6 itself will run.

Three gaming TVs to consider for GTA 6

These picks reflect a useful spread of OLED and Mini-LED choices, not a claim that all three have been personally tested by VGSources. TechRadar’s June 24, 2026 roundup covers five TVs and names the LG C5 its top recommendation; the TCL QM6K/C6K as a lower-cost option; and the Samsung QN90F as a bright-room choice. The specifications and input-lag figures below are reported by TechRadar, not independently verified here. Prices, availability, sizes, and regional model names can change, so check the exact local listing before buying.

TV Best fit Reported gaming features Reported input lag Trade-off to consider
LG C5 OLED Versatile all-round gaming Four HDMI 2.1 ports; 4K at up to 144Hz; VRR; HGiG; ALLM; Dolby Vision gaming 9.2ms, measured by TechRadar OLED may be less suited than a high-brightness Mini-LED set to a very bright room.
TCL QM6K/C6K Mini-LED Value-oriented Mini-LED 4K at up to 144Hz; FreeSync Premium Pro; ALLM; Dolby Vision gaming 13.6ms for the C6K tested by TechRadar Names vary by region and retailer; verify the exact model, size, and port capabilities.
Samsung QN90F Bright rooms and glare Four HDMI 2.1 ports; 4K at up to 165Hz; FreeSync Premium Pro; ALLM; HDR10+ gaming 9.5ms, measured by TechRadar Check regional specifications; HDR10+ gaming is not the same format as Dolby Vision gaming.

LG C5 OLED: the flexible choice

The C5 is the clearest all-round option in this trio if you want an OLED with several high-bandwidth inputs and broad gaming features. Its reported four HDMI 2.1 ports can help if you connect multiple devices that need advanced signals, rather than repeatedly swapping cables. TechRadar measured its input lag at 9.2ms; that is a test result from the publication, not a promise about every setting or signal mode. TechRadar’s GTA 6 gaming TV roundup lists the tested features.

TCL QM6K/C6K: value-minded Mini-LED

Consider the TCL if you prefer a value-oriented Mini-LED option and want features such as 4K/144Hz, VRR-related FreeSync Premium Pro, ALLM, and Dolby Vision gaming for compatible games. TechRadar’s 13.6ms input-lag result applies specifically to its C6K test. The article notes naming differences across regions and retailers, so do not assume a listing with a similar name has identical hardware or port performance.

Samsung QN90F: for a bright room

A sunlit room or persistent reflections make brightness and screen treatment more important. TechRadar describes the QN90F as bright with effective anti-glare, and reports four HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K/165Hz, FreeSync Premium Pro, ALLM, and HDR10+ gaming. Its reported 9.5ms input lag is TechRadar’s measurement. Samsung’s HDR10+ gaming support does not mean it offers Dolby Vision gaming, so check which HDR formats your other devices and games support.

What these TV features mean for console gaming

  • HDMI 2.1: A compatible HDMI 2.1 connection can enable features such as 4K/120Hz and VRR, but the console, cable, TV input, and any receiver or soundbar in the path must all support the intended signal. Tom’s Guide explains the complete-chain requirement in its 2026 HDMI 2.1 TV guide.
  • 120Hz or higher: A TV with a 120Hz-or-higher panel can be useful for compatible console games and features generally. It does not establish that GTA 6 will offer a 120Hz mode.
  • VRR: Variable refresh rate can help compatible games and systems keep motion smoother when frame rates vary. Its benefit depends on support throughout the connected setup.
  • ALLM: Auto Low Latency Mode can switch a compatible TV into a lower-latency game mode when a compatible device signals it.
  • HDR and HGiG: HDR format compatibility and game tone-mapping features matter for supported content, but no GTA 6 HDR format is specified on Rockstar’s official page.

How to choose the right upgrade

  1. Start with the room. For a bright space with reflections, the QN90F’s reported brightness and anti-glare make it the most targeted option here. For a darker or controllable room, compare OLED options such as the C5 against your budget.
  2. Count the devices that need advanced ports. Check how many HDMI 2.1 inputs the exact regional model provides, and whether a receiver or soundbar will sit between the console and TV. The C5 and QN90F are reported to have four HDMI 2.1 ports; confirm the listing and specifications for any purchase.
  3. Compare the exact regional model and size. TCL’s QM6K/C6K naming can vary, and product features may vary by size or market. Verify port capabilities and current price on the retailer or manufacturer listing.
  4. Use the cable you already have if it supports the signal. Tom’s Guide says the cable supplied with a PS5 or Xbox Series X is usually suitable. An extra certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable is only a conditional replacement if your existing cable cannot carry the desired signal or is faulty.
  5. Buy for known use, not an unannounced GTA 6 mode. Choose the TV based on current console games and your viewing conditions; Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and November 19, 2026, but does not state final technical display modes.

What is confirmed about GTA 6 and display performance?

Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and gives November 19, 2026 as the release date. The official listing does not provide a final resolution, frame rate, HDR format, or VRR mode. The PlayStation announcement likewise points to the November 19 date and PS5, but does not establish those technical details. Treat a TV’s 120Hz, VRR, or HDR support as useful for compatible games—not as evidence that GTA 6 will use a particular feature.
