Yes. The game once referred to in early reporting as “Black Ops Gulf War” appeared at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024—but its official name was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Its gameplay reveal was part of the showcase, and a dedicated Black Ops 6 Direct followed immediately afterward. The event is over, and the game released on October 25, 2024.
What Call of Duty game was shown at the Xbox Showcase?
It was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, not a game officially titled Black Ops Gulf War. Call of Duty’s official communications confirmed the Black Ops 6 name and announced its June 9, 2024 reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, followed by a separate Black Ops 6 Direct. The “Gulf War” wording reflects the game’s setting rather than its final title. Activision describes a story set against the Gulf War, in which Frank Woods and his team are hunted after being branded traitors, while a clandestine force infiltrates the CIA. The Black Ops 6 Direct aired immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024. The showcase began at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Xbox’s June 3 viewing guide listed the corresponding start times as 1 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. BST, 7 p.m. CET, 2 a.m. JST on June 10, and 3 a.m. AEST on June 10. Xbox described Black Ops 6 as a spy action thriller set in the early 1990s. Treyarch and Raven Software developed the game. Its modes are campaign, multiplayer, and round-based Zombies. Xbox’s recap also highlighted Omnimovement, Classic Prestige, and Theater Mode.

Platforms and Game Pass
Activision lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Microsoft PC Store, Steam, and Battle.net among the supported platforms, and also lists Game Pass. Xbox announced day-one availability through select Game Pass plans in 2024. Activision’s page names Ultimate, Console, and PC in its subscription footnote, but access requires an active subscription. Game Pass catalog availability and terms can change, so check the current official listing before subscribing on the assumption that the game is included.
Launch content counts
Activision’s official game page lists 16 multiplayer maps at launch: 12 core 6v6 maps and four Strike maps playable in 2v2 or 6v6. It lists two Zombies maps at launch. These are launch counts, not a count of all content added since release.

When did Black Ops 6 release?
Activision lists October 25, 2024 as the release date. That makes the June showcase a past reveal, not an upcoming event. For current platform, edition, or subscription availability, consult the official game page rather than relying on 2024 event announcements.
