What makes Watch Dogs: Legion different?
The game is set in a near-future London under pressure from criminals and authoritarian forces. You rebuild the hacker group DedSec by recruiting people you encounter, then play as those recruits. Their individual skills, resources, and talents give the team different capabilities. Ubisoft said that assembling a team with diverse abilities was essential to fighting London’s oppressors and investigating Zero-Day, the entity behind an attack.

That recruitment system is the clearest reason to choose Legion: its central appeal is a changing cast rather than a single protagonist. The trade-off is that a rotating roster may make it harder to form the same attachment to one authored lead.
What did critics think?
The overall reception was positive, though not unanimous. Review excerpts highlighted the inventive recruitment mechanic, open world, and hacking. A counterpoint in the review coverage was that the lack of a central protagonist weakens the story and that the “play as anyone” idea still needed work. GameSpot’s review listing carries an 8/10; a passage reproduced on Metacritic calls the game’s anti-fascist message admirable and its conclusion satisfying and affirming.

Those excerpts illustrate the range of opinion, not a universal verdict: some reviewers valued the concept and setting, while others found limits in how the system served the narrative.

Which version should you look for?
Ubisoft announced launch availability for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and PC on October 29, 2020. Its announcement dated the Xbox Series X|S release to November 10, the PS5 digital release to November 12, and the PS5 physical release to November 24, 2020. These are historical release dates, not confirmation of current storefront availability or online-service status.

That announcement does not establish present-day upgrade terms or service availability. It is a stronger fit for players who want to experiment with a varied team and enjoy an open-world setting built around hacking than for players who need one consistently developed protagonist to anchor the story. Reviews lean favorable overall, but the divided response to the central mechanic is worth weighing before buying. Match the review evidence to your platform, and treat the dated aggregate scores as a snapshot rather than a permanent rating.
