The Land of the Sky Fish is Floating Scales Island, a fish-shaped sky island in the Lanayru area of Hyrule. You solve it by climbing to the island, shooting a King’s Scale arrow through a droplet formed by floating rocks, and then following the pillar of light that appears at East Reservoir Lake. That light marks the Watery Bridge.
Where the Land of the Sky Fish is
“Land of the Sky Fish” is not a separate ground location. It is the in-game name for Floating Scales Island, which is the island the Clues to the Sky quest sends you to. The island sits above the Zora region, so you need to get into the air before you can start the puzzle.
Getting up to Floating Scales Island
There are several ways to reach the island. The walkthrough most players use is the simplest, and it depends on your gear.
| Route | What you need | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Swim up the waterfall with Zora Armor | Zora Armor equipped | The direct route described by the Nintendo Life walkthrough. Go back to Mipha Court and approach the island from the east side of the shrine. The waterfall there is the “watery bridge” route to the fish-shaped island. |
| Constructed lift | Zonai devices and materials, built by you | Guides describe lift builds as an alternative if the Zora Armor route is unavailable. Specific builds are not stated in the walkthrough summary this article relies on. |
| Falling sky rock with Recall | A reachable falling sky rock and the Recall ability | Described as a secondary method in guides. Timing and placement are not stated with specifics. |
Floating Scales Island is covered in sludge, so the high central area is hard to read at first. Clear enough of the sludge there to see the rock formation before you try the shot.

Solving the droplet puzzle
The puzzle is a visual alignment. Once you can see the rocks, the steps are:
- Stand in the high central area of Floating Scales Island. Guides give approximate coordinates of 4073, 0530, 0604 as a reference point, but treat these as a navigation aid rather than a required spot.
- Look southwest. From this vantage, the floating rocks line up into a tear or droplet shape.
- Fuse a King’s Scale to an arrow. The King’s Scale is the “mark of the king” referred to in the clue.
- Fire the arrow so it passes through the opening of the droplet.
A successful hit produces a pillar of light at East Reservoir Lake. Follow the light to find the Watery Bridge.

- Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
- Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
- Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
- Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.
What “Watery Bridge” refers to
The name is used for the waterfall that connects the Zora region with the sky. The waterfall is associated with East Reservoir Lake and originates at Wellspring Island. Keep the two places separate in your head: the waterfall is the Watery Bridge, and the fish-shaped island where you solve the droplet puzzle is Floating Scales Island.
The clue and the quest behind it
The puzzle belongs to the main quest Clues to the Sky, which sits within the Zora quest sequence. Jiahto’s deciphered slate gives you the instructions. The in-game quest text reads:

- The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom
“Stand upon the land of the sky fish, and behold its lofty view. Among the floating rocks you see, a droplet waits for you. Through this droplet shoot an arrow with the mark of the king. Do this task, and you shall reveal a most wondrous thing.”
This is the wording of the ancient slate as it appears in the game, not a quotation from a real person. The King’s Scales are supplied by King Dorephan earlier in the same quest, so collect them before you head up to the island.

If you can’t find the Watery Bridge
If you have reached the island and fired through the droplet but no light appears, the most likely problem is the vantage point. Move around the high central area until you are clearly looking southwest and the rocks read as a droplet, then fire again with a King’s Scale on the arrow. Players searching for this location often ask where the Watery Bridge is and why they cannot find it, which usually traces back to skipping the King’s Scale or shooting from the wrong side of the island.
