weberforclient.dll is an application file associated with older NHN and HanPurple game clients, not a Windows system DLL.
The safest repair is to restore it through the game or launcher that installed it. Do not begin by downloading a loose DLL or copying one into System32.

Which fix applies to you
Use the first description that matches what you see:
- One older game or launcher fails: repair, verify, update, or reinstall that specific program.
- The file disappeared after security software activity: check Windows Security Protection history before reinstalling.
- The dialog says “specified module could not be found,” but the DLL is present: reinstall the application because a dependency may be missing.
- The file is in
System32orSysWOW64: it may be in the wrong location. The expected copy normally belongs beside the affected program’s executable. - Several unrelated programs fail with DLL errors: investigate Windows corruption, malware, storage problems, or a recent system change.
- You are using a modern PURPLE launcher: do not assume it uses this historically named file. Identify the exact executable and installation directory first.
What is weberforclient.dll
Public file metadata describes weberforclient.dll as “PURPLE DLL for WebBrowser,” developed by NHN Corp. It is a legacy third-party application component used by some older NHN, HanPurple, and game-client installations.

Historical installation records connect the file with products including TERA and Karos, with related evidence for Rosh Online. That does not prove that every game using a PURPLE-branded launcher contains this DLL. Current PURPLE PC is a Windows game launcher, but its relationship to this historically named file is not established.
This is not a Windows component and is not normally supplied by Windows Update. There is also no verified evidence that Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installs weberforclient.dll.
Public samples identify the file as 32-bit, and available version records conflict. Therefore, do not treat one version or file size as universally correct. The correct copy is the one supplied with the exact game or client showing the error.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Fix 1: Identify and repair the owning application
Start with the program named in the error dialog. The application name is more useful than the DLL filename because the application’s installer owns the correct copy.
- Close the error dialog.
- Right-click the game or launcher shortcut.
- Select Open file location.
- In File Explorer, look for the program’s main executable and search that folder for
WeberForClient.dll. - Note the installation path and the name of the executable that fails.
If the DLL is absent, use the application’s repair or verification feature:
- Open the game launcher.
- Open its settings, maintenance, or game-management screen.
- Select Repair, Verify files, Scan, or an equivalent option.
- Allow the launcher to replace damaged or missing files.
- Restart Windows, then launch the game again.
For an application installed through Windows:
- Open Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find the affected program.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair, if available.
- Start the application again.
A successful repair usually restores the DLL in the game or launcher directory and allows the original executable to start. If the repair option is unavailable or fails, uninstall the affected program and reinstall it using its legitimate publisher-supplied installer.
Do not uninstall only because a DLL index page suggests it. First confirm which installed program produced the error.
Fix 2: Reinstall the exact game or client
A clean reinstall is the most dependable fix when the installation is incomplete, damaged, or from an old update.

- Back up saved games or configuration files if the publisher documents where they are stored.
- Open Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Select the affected game or launcher.
- Choose Uninstall and complete the wizard.
- Restart Windows.
- Download or run the installer from the game publisher or the client’s original legitimate distribution source.
- Install it to the intended folder.
- Run the launcher’s update or file-verification process before starting the game.
If the installer offers a choice between 32-bit and 64-bit components, follow the application vendor’s instructions. A 32-bit game generally needs its 32-bit application files and x86 prerequisites, even when Windows itself is 64-bit.
Do not copy a DLL from another game into the new installation. Two clients can use the same filename while requiring different builds or dependencies.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an application file. Check this before repeatedly reinstalling the program.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Under Current threats, select Protection history.
- Review recent entries for the affected game, launcher, or
weberforclient.dll. - Expand an entry to view its path and action.
- If the application came from a legitimate publisher and the path matches its installation directory, verify the installer and publisher before taking any action.
Restore a quarantined file only when you have confirmed that the application is legitimate and the file came from its original installer. If Defender detects it again, do not keep forcing the restore. Update the game or launcher, update security definitions, and contact the publisher if the file is repeatedly removed.
If you do restore it, run the application’s repair or verification process afterward. That lets the official installer provide the matching copy rather than relying on a manually restored file.
Fix 4: Resolve dependency and architecture problems
A message saying “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that weberforclient.dll itself is missing. Windows may be unable to load a dependency required by the DLL.
Use this sequence:
- Re-run the game or launcher repair function.
- Install all prerequisites offered by the application’s official installer.
- If the application specifically requests a Microsoft runtime, use Microsoft’s supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.
- For a 32-bit application, follow the vendor’s guidance about the x86 package.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Do not assume that Visual C++ is responsible merely because the error names a DLL. There is no verified evidence that the Visual C++ Redistributable installs weberforclient.dll.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components when other programs also fail
Windows repair is appropriate when multiple unrelated applications fail, protected system files are damaged, or the problem began after a broader system failure. It will not normally recreate an application-owned NHN DLL.
First repair the Windows component store:
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the affected application.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows files. If both commands report that no integrity violations were found, return to repairing the game or launcher.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without identifying what changed can waste time when the real problem is an incomplete application installation. Outbyte PC Repair can show a scan of broader Windows problems, while repairs are performed by the full version; it is optional, and reinstalling the affected game remains the definitive fix for this application-owned DLL.
Fix 6: Update the application and relevant drivers
An old launcher may fail after a Windows update, graphics-driver change, or damaged runtime installation. Update the game or client first through its official launcher.
For display or chipset drivers:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters or System devices.
- Right-click the relevant device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
Device Manager does not replace the game’s missing DLL. It is relevant only when the application also crashes, displays incorrectly, or reports a hardware-related problem.
If you are manually checking several driver versions, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; the full version performs driver installation. It is optional, and it should not replace reinstalling the original client when that is the source of weberforclient.dll.
Why regsvr32 usually does not help
Do not run this command simply because the filename ends in .dll:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →regsvr32 weberforclient.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly in registered component or ActiveX scenarios. A web-client or game-runtime library does not become usable merely by being registered.
Running the command can produce an entry-point error, and it will not restore a missing dependency, repair a damaged installation, or place the file in the correct application directory.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not download a random DLL
Random DLL download sites create several risks:
- The file may contain malware or tampering.
- It may be the wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
- Its version may not match the game.
- Its dependencies may still be missing.
- Copying it into
System32orSysWOW64can create new conflicts. - Replacing a working client DLL can break the application.
The safe source is the affected game or launcher’s legitimate publisher installer, updater, or repair function. Manual copying is appropriate only when the publisher supplies the exact file and explicitly instructs you to place it in that client’s application directory.

Windows Features and recovery options
Turning Windows Features on or off is not a general repair for weberforclient.dll. Do not enable random legacy components to make an application DLL load.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf the application specifically requires an older Windows feature and its documentation names it:
- Open Start → Settings → System → Optional features.
- Select More Windows features.
- Enable only the feature documented by the application vendor.
- Restart Windows and test again.
If malware, repeated corruption, or a failed system change affects many programs, scan with Windows Security and review Microsoft’s Windows recovery options. Remove and reinstall the affected application from a legitimate source after the system is clean.
Prevention
- Keep the game or launcher updated through its own updater.
- Do not delete unfamiliar DLLs during manual cleanup.
- Check Protection history when a file disappears unexpectedly.
- Keep the installer for older games that are no longer easy to obtain.
- Avoid mixing files from different client versions or games.
- Record the application path when an error first appears.
- If a reinstall places files in a different directory, check the shortcut and launcher configuration.
FAQ
Is weberforclient.dll a Windows file?
No. It is an application DLL associated with legacy NHN and HanPurple software. It normally belongs beside the executable that uses it, not in a Windows system folder.
Is it part of Microsoft Visual C++?
There is no verified evidence that Visual C++ Redistributable installs this file. Install Microsoft runtimes only when the affected application or its installer indicates that they are required.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does current PURPLE PC use this DLL?
Current PURPLE PC is a Windows game launcher, but its relationship to this historically named DLL has not been established. Identify the exact executable and installation directory instead of assuming they are the same product.
Should I register the DLL?
Usually not. regsvr32 does not repair a missing application file or its dependencies and may return an entry-point error.
What if the DLL is present but the game still will not start?
Run the game’s repair or verification function, reinstall its prerequisites, and check antivirus quarantine. The named DLL may be present while one of its dependencies is missing or incompatible.
When should I contact the publisher?
Contact the game or launcher publisher when its repair and reinstall process repeatedly removes or fails to restore the file, or when the client’s launcher logs identify a dependency that the installer does not provide.
