Before starting When Sirens Fall Silent, open its options menu and audit subtitles, controller behavior, visual effects, audio mixing and content warnings. Subtitles and full Xbox-controller support are confirmed in current store metadata, but the game is unreleased and detailed controls such as subtitle styling, remapping depth, camera effects and color filters have not been published. Treat those items as launch-day checks rather than guaranteed features.
What is confirmed about accessibility right now?
When Sirens Fall Silent is an unreleased dark investigative psychological thriller starring Mila, a policewoman in early-1990s Italy. Its release date is still to be announced, so the final accessibility menu can change before launch. Public listings provide a useful baseline, but they do not constitute a complete settings manual.

- Steam advertises subtitles in ten text languages and lists Full Controller Support and Xbox Controllers.
- Epic lists a Windows version coming soon, English audio, ten text languages and gamepad as an additional input device.
- The Xbox listing identifies an Xbox Series X|S version.
- Public PCGamingWiki fields for remapping, mouse sensitivity, subtitles, closed captions and color-blind mode are blank. A blank field is not evidence that a feature is absent or present.
That distinction matters. You can plan around subtitles and an Xbox-compatible controller, while still checking every other setting yourself when the final build is available.

Subtitles and language options
Select a supported text language
Steam lists these subtitle languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Select the language you read most comfortably before beginning the first chapter, and check whether the game applies the choice immediately or only after a restart. Epic also describes ten text languages, while listing English as the audio language.

Check subtitle presentation, not just the language
A language list does not tell you whether subtitles are readable from your seating distance. Look for controls for text size, font weight, contrast, screen position and background opacity. A solid or semi-opaque background can separate dialogue from the dark scenes suggested by the game’s thriller setting; a high-contrast text color can help when a background option is unavailable.
Also check whether speaker names appear. Speaker labels are particularly useful when several characters talk off-screen or when a scene uses radio, telephone or police communications. If the menu offers an option for identifying speakers, enable it and test the result during a conversation.
Find out what non-speech sounds are captioned
Do not assume that “subtitles” means a complete sound description. Play a short section and watch for captions for alarms, footsteps, doors, impacts, music cues or off-screen activity. Current public listings confirm subtitle languages but do not document closed-caption coverage, sound-effect labels or descriptive text. If important information is conveyed through sound and no caption appears, note that limitation before committing to a long session.

Use the confirmed controller path first
Steam lists Full Controller Support and Xbox Controllers. An Xbox-compatible controller, including an Xbox Wireless Controller, is therefore a reasonable optional input choice. Connect it before launching, then move through every menu and test walking, camera movement, interaction, pause and confirmation buttons. Full controller support does not reveal whether every action can be remapped or whether prompts change correctly for your device.

Test remapping depth
Open the controls page and look for a complete binding screen rather than a single preset selector. Check movement, camera, interaction, crouch or sprint actions if those commands appear, menu navigation and any investigative action. Try assigning a commonly used command to a different face button or trigger, save the profile, leave the menu and confirm that the new assignment persists after loading a scene.
Current public information does not confirm full remapping. If the game only offers a few presets, use the operating system or console-level button-mapping tools available on your platform, while remembering that those tools change the physical layout rather than the on-screen button prompts.
Check sensitivity, inversion, vibration and hold behavior
Look separately for camera sensitivity and aiming or pointer sensitivity. Test horizontal and vertical movement at a low value first, then adjust until a complete turn does not require repeated, uncomfortable stick movements. Check for independent vertical inversion if you use it.

Keyboard and mouse are a separate question
Epic identifies gamepad as an additional input device for the Windows version, while Steam explicitly names Xbox controllers. That information does not establish the exact keyboard-and-mouse feature set. On Windows, connect your preferred devices before first launch and test whether menus, movement, camera control and interaction all respond. If a keyboard layout is available, inspect every binding and confirm that non-US layouts produce the expected symbols.
Visual comfort and motion
Investigative thrillers can combine darkness, rapid camera movement and strong contrast. Before playing for a long session, inspect the display and accessibility pages for:
- Brightness or gamma, so dark rooms do not become unreadable.
- Contrast and color adjustments.
- Field of view, if the camera exposes it.
- Camera shake, head-bob or other impact effects.
- Motion blur and depth-of-field.
- Color filters or a color-blind mode.
None of these controls is verified by the current public listings. Their absence from a published description should not be treated as a definitive no. If you are sensitive to motion, begin with a brief test segment, keep the display at a comfortable distance and stop if nausea, eye strain or disorientation develops. Do not rely on brightness alone to solve motion discomfort; brightness changes visibility, not camera movement.

Audio settings to inspect
Open the audio menu before the first story sequence. Look for independent master, music, dialogue and effects sliders so that speech remains audible without making sudden effects uncomfortably loud. If a dynamic-range, night-mode or loudness-normalization option is offered, compare it with the default at a low volume.

Check whether the game provides a visual indicator for important sounds or any separate setting for ambient effects. No detailed audio-accessibility menu is currently published, and English is the only audio language identified in the available Windows listing. If you need captions for non-speech audio, verify them during play rather than inferring coverage from the subtitle toggle.
Review mature-content warnings before playing
The official descriptions warn of intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, nudity, drug use and strong language. The Steam notice adds that the story and featured characters are fictional, contain potentially uncomfortable scenes and cover topics that may distress some players. These warnings are relevant accessibility information: a player managing trauma, anxiety or sensory sensitivity may need to decide whether to play, use content controls if they exist, or arrange support before starting.
Look for any scene-skip, content-filter or intensity option in the final build, but do not assume one exists. The public listings do not document such a control. If a particular topic is a hard boundary, read the platform’s full warning and make that decision before purchasing or launching rather than waiting for an unexpected scene.
Windows and Xbox Series X|S: what to compare
Windows and Xbox Series X|S versions are announced, but accessibility parity between them has not been confirmed. Settings may use different labels, controller prompts or menu layouts on each platform. Run the same audit on the platform you will actually use.

| Platform information currently listed | Accessibility implication |
|---|---|
| Windows version coming soon; English audio; ten text languages; gamepad listed as an additional input device | Check subtitle presentation, keyboard behavior and controller recognition in the PC build you install |
| Xbox Series X|S version; Xbox controllers listed by Steam | Check controller prompts, remapping options, vibration and console display settings on the specific Xbox model |
Do not assume that a setting found on Windows will also appear on Xbox, or that a console-level accessibility feature will be mirrored inside the game. Record the values that work for you so they can be restored after an update or on a second platform.
A practical first-launch accessibility audit
- Connect your input device. Pair the Xbox-compatible controller or connect keyboard and mouse before launching. Confirm that the game recognizes it on the title screen.
- Open Options or Settings. Visit every category, not only Accessibility. Some games place subtitle, camera and vibration controls under Audio, Display or Controls.
- Set language. Choose one of the ten listed subtitle languages and confirm whether a restart is required.
- Make text readable. Adjust size, contrast and background presentation if those controls are available. Turn on speaker labels and sound-effect captions when offered.
- Configure input. Test remapping, sensitivity, inversion, vibration and hold/toggle behavior. Save, exit the menu and verify persistence.
- Reduce visual strain. Check brightness, camera shake, motion blur, depth-of-field, field of view and color filters. Change only one option at a time so you know which adjustment helped.
- Balance audio. Set dialogue, effects and music independently if possible, then test a conversation and a louder effect at your normal listening volume.
- Read the content notice. Review the violence, gore, sexual content, nudity, drug-use and strong-language warnings before beginning the story.
- Play a short test. Use the opening section to confirm that captions, controls and visual settings remain comfortable before committing to a longer session.
If an expected setting is missing
First, check every category and scroll through the complete page; a setting may not be grouped under an “Accessibility” heading. Next, verify that the game is updated and that your controller firmware and operating-system settings are current. Restart after changing language or display options if the menu requests it.
If a control still cannot be found, separate a confirmed limitation from an undocumented feature. Subtitles and Xbox-controller support are publicly advertised; detailed subtitle styling, closed captions, remapping depth, color-blind mode, motion controls and audio assistance are not. Use platform-level accessibility tools where appropriate, reduce session length, or postpone play if the available controls do not meet your needs.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat to recheck when the final build launches
Because the game is unreleased and has no announced release date, revisit the options menu after launch and after major updates. Confirm that your chosen subtitle language remains selected, that saved remaps survive updates, and that Windows and Xbox Series X|S versions offer the controls you require. The safest pre-play plan is therefore two-stage: rely on the features already advertised, then verify the finer details directly in the final build before starting the investigation.
