What does Lethality do?
Lethality is flat armor penetration: it reduces the armor taken into account when your physical damage is calculated. Riot’s Patch 14.1 notes changed the conversion to one point of armor penetration per point of Lethality. Under that rule, 10 Lethality grants 10 flat armor penetration.

Before that change, the amount of armor penetration provided by Lethality scaled with champion level, from 0.6 to 1 per point. That historical conversion is not the rule described in Patch 14.1.

How does Adaptive Force convert to AD or AP?
Adaptive Force becomes one of two stats: each point converts to either 0.6 bonus AD or 1 AP. The League of Legends Wiki’s Adaptive Force reference describes the conversion and how the game chooses which stat to grant.

How the game chooses
- If your bonus AD is higher than your AP, Adaptive Force grants bonus AD.
- If your AP is higher than your bonus AD, it grants AP.
- If the values are equal, the result depends on the champion.
Adaptive Force does not simply choose the stat that your abilities scale with. Its conversion depends on the comparison between bonus AD and AP, with a champion-specific result in a tie.
What is the difference between Lethality and Adaptive Force?

These effects answer different questions: Lethality penetrates armor for physical damage, while Adaptive Force adds an offensive stat. Which is more useful depends on the champion, the damage being assessed, and the target’s armor; the mechanics alone do not establish a universal ranking or build recommendation.

Is 9 Adaptive Force still a stat-shard option?
Riot’s Patch 14.2 notes list 9 Adaptive Force as an unchanged stat-shard option in the flex row. That is a historical example from 2024, not confirmation that the same value or selection is available in the October 2026 game client.

Riot’s Patch 14.1 notes establish the cited Lethality conversion, and the Adaptive Force conversion is documented in the community-maintained League of Legends Wiki. The patch archive showed Patch 26.20, dated October 6, 2026, as its latest entry in the available listing, but that listing alone does not establish whether the patch changed either mechanic or the shard options.
