NVIDIA says its 3D-Guided Neural Rendering feature debuted in NBA 2K27 on September 3, 2026, for GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop and laptop GPUs and GeForce NOW. Fifteen other games have been announced as DLSS 5 targets, but an announcement is not proof that the feature is playable in the current build.
To check a title, update the game and your NVIDIA Game Ready driver, then look for the exact menu label DLSS Neural Rendering. On local hardware, you need an RTX 50 Series GPU; cloud users need a GeForce NOW listing and a plan that supports the game. The checks below separate released support from announced support and explain what to do when the option is missing.

DLSS 5 support at a glance
DLSS 5 is NVIDIA’s name for a rendering system that uses 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. The first released implementation identified in NVIDIA’s September 2026 FAQ is NBA 2K27. NVIDIA’s September 1 announcement describes the feature as available in NBA 2K27 for RTX 50 Series GPUs and laptops, plus GeForce NOW; the September 3 FAQ calls that the debut.

For any announced title, verify both the current NVIDIA DLSS information and the developer’s latest patch notes before assuming the option is available.
Which games have DLSS 5 right now?
NBA 2K27: the confirmed release
NVIDIA identifies NBA 2K27 as the released DLSS 5 game. The feature is available to all GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop and laptop GPUs and through GeForce NOW. In the game, NVIDIA says the control is labeled DLSS Neural Rendering and is located in Video Settings.
DLSS 5 is optional. NVIDIA says you can turn it off, and that it can be used alongside ray tracing, path tracing, Super Resolution, Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction. Those controls are not the same switch: changing Neural Rendering does not automatically choose your Super Resolution mode, frame-generation setting or Reflex latency option.

Announced games: support still needs confirmation
The games below are named in NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 announcement material. “Announced target” means NVIDIA has said the title is expected to support DLSS 5; it does not establish that a public build contains the feature today.

The list can change as developers ship updates. A title remaining on an announcement list is not a guarantee of timing, platform coverage or the exact menu name.
Hardware and platform requirements
Local PC rendering
NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 FAQ specifies a GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop or laptop GPU for local use. The official material reviewed here does not establish DLSS 5 support for RTX 20, RTX 30 or RTX 40 cards. That is an evidence boundary, not a claim that every older card is technically incapable of future support; use the game’s and NVIDIA’s current documentation for any later change.
Series-level support does not make every game compatible. You still need a game build that implements DLSS 5, an up-to-date driver and a graphics menu that exposes the feature. A supported GPU with an old driver or an unpatched game can therefore show no option.

GeForce NOW
NVIDIA lists GeForce NOW as a DLSS 5 platform. Cloud availability is separate from local hardware compatibility: the service must offer the game in its current catalog, your account must have a plan that permits the relevant session, and the game publisher’s account or store requirements still apply. Catalogs and plan terms can change, so check the live GeForce NOW listing rather than assuming that every announced DLSS 5 game is streamable.

How to enable DLSS 5 in NBA 2K27
- Update the driver. Install the newest NVIDIA Game Ready driver through the NVIDIA app or NVIDIA’s driver-download site. Restart if the installer requests it.
- Update NBA 2K27. Allow the game client to finish downloading its current patch. A launch-era build may not contain later rendering fixes.
- Open the correct menu. Start the game and choose Video Settings. NVIDIA’s launch instructions place the control there.
- Find the exact label. Look for DLSS Neural Rendering. Do not treat a generic “DLSS” or “NVIDIA” toggle as proof that DLSS 5 is present.
- Turn it on. Enable the setting, apply the change and restart the game if it asks you to do so.
- Set related features separately. Choose Super Resolution, Frame Generation and Reflex according to your image-quality and latency priorities. DLSS 5 can coexist with ray tracing, path tracing, Super Resolution, Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction, but those options remain independently configurable.
- Check the result in a repeatable scene. Use the same arena, camera angle and resolution when comparing settings. NVIDIA’s published number is a vendor maximum, not a promise for your system.
How to check another game for compatibility
- Identify the support status. If the title is NBA 2K27, it has the confirmed released implementation described above. If it is one of the 15 announced targets, treat it as pending until a current patch or menu confirms it.
- Confirm the platform. For local play, verify that the computer has a GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop or laptop GPU. For cloud play, search the current GeForce NOW catalog and review the plan requirements.
- Install the newest Game Ready driver. Use the NVIDIA app or NVIDIA’s driver site; an older driver can hide a newly added option.
- Patch the game. Support may be delivered in a game update rather than a driver-only release.
- Search the graphics menus. Open Video, Graphics or Display settings and look specifically for “DLSS Neural Rendering.” The exact location can differ by title; NBA 2K27 uses Video Settings.
- Read the developer’s notes. Look for a dated entry that names DLSS 5 or 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. Older references to DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation or Ray Reconstruction do not by themselves confirm DLSS 5.
- Test after enabling. Apply the setting, restart when requested and compare image quality and frame pacing at your normal resolution. Record the other DLSS options so you know which change produced the result.
Local RTX 50 Series versus GeForce NOW
Both routes can satisfy NVIDIA’s stated DLSS 5 platform requirement, but they solve different problems. Local rendering requires buying and powering compatible hardware; cloud streaming avoids that GPU purchase but depends on catalog access and your network.

If you already own an RTX 50 Series system and value the lowest possible input path, local rendering is the straightforward choice. If your current computer lacks that GPU, GeForce NOW is the alternative NVIDIA explicitly identifies, provided the game and your plan are available.
Choosing among RTX 50 Series cards
DLSS 5 is a series-level capability, so the decisive compatibility question is whether the card is an RTX 50 Series model, not whether it is a particular model number. The available data identifies RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 as useful comparison points, but it does not provide a complete, current table of their prices, VRAM capacities, noise levels or game-by-game performance. Do not treat a card name as a guaranteed frame rate.

Higher resolutions and heavier ray-tracing or path-tracing settings demand more rendering capacity before any neural feature is applied.
- Leave headroom for non-DLSS settings. Texture quality, ray tracing, path tracing and frame generation each affect memory use, latency and frame pacing independently.
- Check the game first. DLSS 5 cannot be enabled in a title that has not shipped the implementation, regardless of which RTX 50 Series card you buy.
- Use published results carefully. NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 example is a vendor result for one configuration, not a ranking of all RTX 50 Series cards.
What the published performance figure means
NVIDIA reports up to 370 FPS at 4K Ultra with ray tracing enabled on an RTX 5090 in NBA 2K27 with DLSS enabled. “Up to” describes a maximum under NVIDIA’s stated configuration. It is not an average, a guaranteed minimum or a universal DLSS 5 uplift, and it should not be transferred to another game, resolution, GPU or graphics preset.

No official statistic in the reviewed material establishes a universal frame-rate increase across DLSS 5 games. Your result will depend on the game build, CPU, GPU model, resolution, ray-tracing workload, frame-generation choice, driver and scene.

The game is only announced
The most common explanation is timing: the title appears in NVIDIA’s announcement but its public build does not yet include the feature. Check a dated developer patch note and the current NVIDIA DLSS information before changing hardware.
The game or driver is out of date
Install the newest Game Ready driver and let the game client complete every update. Then relaunch the title; some games rebuild shaders or expose new options only after a restart.
The GPU is not an RTX 50 Series model
For local play, NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 FAQ specifies RTX 50 Series desktop and laptop GPUs. The reviewed sources do not confirm local support on RTX 20, 30 or 40 cards.

You are looking at the wrong setting
Search for the full label “DLSS Neural Rendering.” A menu entry for DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation or Ray Reconstruction is a different feature and does not prove that DLSS 5 is installed. In NBA 2K27, open Video Settings rather than a separate display overlay.
The cloud catalog does not include the title
GeForce NOW support requires the game to be present in the service’s current catalog and permitted by your plan. A local DLSS 5 announcement does not automatically make the game streamable.
A quick compatibility checklist
- Is the game NBA 2K27, or only one of the announced targets?
- Does the local machine use a GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop or laptop GPU?
- Is the newest NVIDIA Game Ready driver installed?
- Is the game fully patched?
- Does the graphics menu contain the exact text “DLSS Neural Rendering”?
- Have Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, ray tracing and path tracing been configured independently?
- If using GeForce NOW, is the title in the live catalog and allowed by the current membership tier?
- Are you treating the RTX 5090 4K Ultra result as a vendor maximum rather than a typical frame rate?
What to expect next
The announced pipeline shows that NVIDIA and developers intend to add DLSS 5 beyond NBA 2K27, but dates and final menu behavior can change. Recheck the game’s patch notes after major updates and confirm the option in the live build. The reliable test is always the same: supported platform, current driver, current game patch and the visible “DLSS Neural Rendering” control.
