Nothing extra: the Destiny Knot’s IV-inheritance effect does not stack. In Pokémon games from Generation VI onward, one parent holding a Destiny Knot makes an Egg inherit five IVs from its parents instead of the usual three. Giving both parents a Knot still means five inherited stats, not more.
How Destiny Knot inheritance works
With at least one parent holding a Destiny Knot, five of the offspring’s six IVs are inherited from the two parents; the remaining IV is generated randomly. The inherited stats can come from either parent, so the Knot holder does not pass only its own IVs. The number of inherited IVs is not a guarantee that they will be high or perfect.
For the documented rule from Generation VI onward, see Bulbapedia’s Destiny Knot entry and IV breeding guide. The Scarlet and Violet breeding guide also describes five inherited IVs selected from the parents’ twelve IVs.
One Destiny Knot versus two
| Setup | Inherited IVs | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| One parent holds a Destiny Knot | Five | Raises the usual inherited count of three to five, in games with this rule. |
| Both parents hold a Destiny Knot | Five | No additional IV inheritance effect; the result does not exceed five. |
The Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl guide explicitly notes that giving both parents a Knot does not make the effect overlap or increase.

When to use an Everstone instead
If you also want to pass a particular Nature, a common setup in compatible games is to give the Destiny Knot to one parent and an Everstone to the parent with the Nature you want. The Knot supports IV inheritance; the Everstone is used for Nature inheritance. This is practical community guidance, not a universal rule for every Pokémon game or spin-off.
Which games use this rule?
The five-IV Destiny Knot breeding effect is documented from Generation VI onward, starting with Pokémon X and Y. The title of the question does not specify a game, so do not assume the same mechanic applies to games before Generation VI or every spin-off. Check the breeding rules for the specific game if you are playing outside that scope.
