Your character runs away after Marnie asks why you were behind the house; the scene does not document you actually telling the townspeople.
What happens if you say you’ll tell everyone?
The choice appears when Lewis asks whether you will keep what you overheard secret. Selecting “Yes… and I’m going to tell everyone” costs 100 friendship points with Lewis. He cries, Marnie asks why you were behind the house, and your character runs off, leaving the two of them confused. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Lewis page documents this immediate scene outcome, not a later act of spreading the news around town.

How do you trigger Lewis and Marnie’s scene?
The wiki lists these requirements and conditions:
- Have six hearts with both Lewis and Marnie.
- Enter town on a sunny day between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
The scene takes place near Lewis’s house. Lewis and Marnie are discussing whether to make their romance public. Lewis worries that going public would undermine his authority, while Marnie thinks he is too concerned about his job. Marnie says she will keep the relationship secret, then the player appears and is asked to keep what they heard private.
What does the other dialogue choice do?
Choosing “Yes… but I’ll keep it a secret” earns 50 friendship points with Lewis, who thanks you. The wiki does not list a friendship-point change for Marnie for either response.
