What Is allplayerpl.exe? Is It Safe, and How to Fix allplayerpl.exe Errors on Windows

allplayerpl.exe is an ALLPlayer setup executable, not a Windows system file. It is conditionally safe: one recorded version 6.5 sample had zero detections from 68 scanners, while other 6.5 and 7.1 samples were flagged as potentially unwanted because an InstallCore installer could bundle toolbars or browser extensions. The filename alone cannot tell you which file you have.

Before opening it, check where it came from, its publisher, digital signature, exact version and hash, then scan that exact file with Microsoft Defender. If you did not intend to install ALLPlayer, uninstall the associated app from Windows Settings, scan again and investigate recent installations. For playback or startup errors, use the current official build and its documented fixes rather than replacing the executable with a random download.

What is allplayerpl.exe?

allplayerpl.exe is the name used by an ALLPlayer installer built with Inno Setup. It belongs to the media-player application, not to Windows, Microsoft Defender or a required Windows service. Seeing the filename in a download folder, an installer prompt or a short-lived setup process can therefore be normal when you deliberately installed ALLPlayer.

The same filename can identify different binaries. Recorded samples have different hashes and versions, so a clean result for one file does not certify every other allplayerpl.exe. The official ALLPlayer site currently advertises ALLPlayer 9.6, published on 19 February 2026, with features such as subtitle downloading and AI voice-over. Older setup files may have different packaging and behavior.

What the name does not prove

  • It does not prove that the file is a Windows component.
  • It does not prove that the file is malware.
  • It does not prove that the file came from the ALLPlayer publisher.
  • It does not prove that an installer contains no optional third-party offers.

Treat the filename as an identification clue only. Source, publisher, signature, version, hash and installer screens are the evidence that matters.

Is allplayerpl.exe safe or a virus?

There is no universal yes-or-no answer. A deliberately downloaded installer from the official ALLPlayer site, with a matching publisher and a clean Defender scan, is more consistent with a legitimate setup file. An unexpected copy in a temporary, email-attachment or pirated-software folder deserves a much more cautious review.

Recorded file Scanner result What the result means
Version 6.5 sample 0 of 68 detections That particular recorded hash was not detected by the listed engines; it does not clear every file with the same name.
Version 6.5 sample 1 of 68 detections Flagged as potentially unwanted because InstallCore could bundle toolbars or browser extensions.
Version 7.1 sample 1 of 68 detections Also associated with potentially unwanted InstallCore bundling.

Microsoft describes unwanted software as programs that alter the Windows experience without your consent or control. That category is different from proving that the ALLPlayer media player itself is malicious. An installer can be legitimate software packaged with an unwanted offer, and a clean scan is not proof that every same-named download is safe.

Why InstallCore matters

InstallCore is relevant because the flagged records cite the possibility of bundled toolbars or browser extensions. Read every installer page, choose a custom or advanced option when offered, and decline unrelated software. Cancel the setup if it hides the decline option, changes your browser without clear consent or presents an offer you did not request.

Why is allplayerpl.exe running?

The usual explanation is that an ALLPlayer installation or update has been started. Setup programs may run briefly, unpack files and then close. It can also appear because another program launched an installer from a download or temporary directory, or because a previously installed app is attempting a repair or update.

Unexpected execution changes the decision. Do not assume that a process is safe merely because its name resembles a known application. In Task Manager, right-click the process, choose Open file location, and note the full path before ending it. A copy in an ALLPlayer installation directory is more plausible than one in a random user-data or temporary folder, but location alone is not proof.

How do I check an allplayerpl.exe file before opening it?

Use this sequence on the exact file you received. Do not run the installer first just to discover what it does.

  1. Preserve the file. Do not double-click it, move it into a system directory or rename it. Record the download location and the time it appeared.
  2. Inspect Properties. Right-click the file, select Properties and review the General, Details and Digital Signatures tabs. Check the product name, file description, version and signer. An absent or invalid signature is a warning, not automatic proof of malware.
  3. Check the path. An intentional download or a clearly identified ALLPlayer program folder is easier to explain than a path under a temporary folder, an email cache or a cracked-software bundle.
  4. Calculate the hash. In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash -LiteralPath "C:pathtoallplayerpl.exe" -Algorithm SHA256, replacing the path with the real location. Save the resulting SHA-256 value and compare it only with a trusted record for the same version and distribution source.
  5. Scan the exact file. In File Explorer, right-click it and choose Scan with Microsoft Defender. If that menu is unavailable, open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Custom scan, select the file or its containing folder and review the result.
  6. Review the installer screens without accepting them. If you decide to proceed after the scan, select a custom or advanced installation path and reject unrelated toolbars, extensions or other offers. Stop if the publisher, version or destination does not match what you expected.

Keep the hash and scan result with the file’s source information. If a later alert appears, that record helps distinguish a changed download from a false assumption about the filename.

How do I remove allplayerpl.exe and an unwanted ALLPlayer installation?

If you did not choose the installation, remove the installed application through Windows first, then scan. Deleting only the EXE can leave services, scheduled tasks, browser changes or other files behind.

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (called Apps & features on some older Windows 10 builds).
  2. Sort the list by Install date and look for ALLPlayer or another program installed at the same time as the unexpected file.
  3. Select the entry, choose the three-dot menu and click Uninstall. Follow the vendor uninstaller and decline any additional offer.
  4. Restart Windows if the uninstaller requests it.
  5. Run Microsoft Defender again. If it reports a threat or the alert returns, use Microsoft’s malware-removal guidance and submit the exact file for analysis instead of downloading a replacement EXE from a random site.

Do not remove a program solely because it is unfamiliar if another person uses the computer. Confirm the account that installed it and whether the ALLPlayer playback features are needed.

Checking historical leftovers carefully

A third-party inventory of older ALLPlayer V5.X builds reported a C:Program FilesALLPlayer directory, unins000.exe, a scheduled task and a firewall exception. Those observations are version-specific and historical; they are not a checklist for every current release. After uninstalling, inspect Task Scheduler, Windows Defender Firewall and the installation folder only if you understand what each entry does. Do not delete a scheduled task or firewall rule that belongs to another application.

How do I fix an allplayerpl.exe error on Windows?

The right repair depends on whether the error concerns the installer itself or the ALLPlayer program after installation. Capture the exact message, when it appears and the file path before changing anything.

The installer will not start or says it is damaged

  • Delete the incomplete download and obtain a fresh installer from the official ALLPlayer site. Avoid file-sharing, cracked-software and “DLL download” pages.
  • Check the file’s Properties for an Unblock checkbox. If Windows marked a file downloaded from the internet and you trust its source, select Unblock, apply the change and rescan before trying again.
  • Confirm that your account can install software and that there is enough disk space. If the error names a temporary directory, clear only temporary files you recognize, then retry from a normal local folder.
  • Stop if the publisher, signature or hash differs from the expected release, or if Defender reports potentially unwanted software.

ALLPlayer installed but will not start

  1. Restart Windows and try the application once. A pending update or locked file can make the first launch fail.
  2. Use Settings > Apps > Installed apps > ALLPlayer > Uninstall if the installation is unwanted or appears incomplete.
  3. If you need the player, uninstall the current copy, restart, rescan, and install the current official build rather than copying an EXE from another computer.
  4. Check Windows Security protection history for a quarantine event. Restore a file only when you have verified its source and understand why Defender blocked it.

Playback, subtitle or fullscreen problems

These are application problems rather than evidence that the filename itself is malicious. The official ALLPlayer changelog records fixes across releases for playback issues, subtitle detection and fullscreen closing. Compare your installed version with the current official release and update through the vendor’s distribution channel. If the problem began after an update, note the version and reproduce the issue before trying compatibility settings.

An error mentions a missing DLL

Do not download a single DLL from an unverified catalog and place it in C:WindowsSystem32 or the ALLPlayer directory. Reinstall the complete, verified ALLPlayer package, because the installer is the intended distribution unit and manually replacing one executable or library can destabilize the program. If Windows reports a system DLL problem outside ALLPlayer, use Windows’ own repair procedures rather than mixing files from unrelated versions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Windows blocks the file as potentially unwanted

Leave the file quarantined while you investigate. Check whether the alert names InstallCore, a toolbar or a browser extension, and remove the associated installation from Settings > Apps. If you intentionally downloaded the installer and believe the detection is mistaken, submit the exact file for analysis; do not disable Defender merely to force the setup to run.

Can I delete allplayerpl.exe?

You can delete the standalone installer after a successful installation, provided no setup or update is using it. Deleting it will not normally remove the installed player, which is stored elsewhere. Before deleting, confirm that the file is merely a download or leftover setup package and not the only copy you need for an offline reinstall.

Your situation Safer choice Reason
You downloaded it intentionally, verified it and still need the installer Keep it in a clearly named folder and rescan before use You retain an offline installer while preserving its source and hash information.
ALLPlayer is installed and working; the file is only in Downloads Delete the installer after confirming the app works The setup package is no longer required for normal playback.
You do not recognize the download or the install appeared unexpectedly Uninstall the associated app, scan and then delete the file Removing the app first gives Defender and Windows a chance to clean related components.
Defender reports a threat or potentially unwanted behavior Allow quarantine or removal; do not execute it A same-name replacement can have a different hash and different behavior.

What should I do if the file keeps coming back?

A recurring file suggests an updater, scheduled task, browser download or another installed program is recreating it. After uninstalling ALLPlayer, sort Settings > Apps by install date, review Task Scheduler for clearly identified ALLPlayer tasks and inspect browser download history. Remove only entries you can attribute to the unwanted installation.

Run a full Microsoft Defender scan if the file returns, and disconnect from the network while investigating if you see other unexplained changes. Preserve the newest copy and its path for analysis rather than repeatedly deleting evidence. If several accounts share the PC, check each user’s Downloads and AppData locations.

How can I prevent a repeat installation?

  • Download ALLPlayer only from its official distribution page and verify the version before launching the installer.
  • Keep Windows and Microsoft Defender current.
  • Use custom or advanced setup options and decline unrelated offers.
  • Do not run installers received unexpectedly by email, messaging apps or pirated-software bundles.
  • Keep browser extensions and homepage changes under review after any media-player installation.
  • Save the SHA-256 hash and download source for software you expect to reinstall later.

There is no independent prevalence or infection-rate statistic establishing how often allplayerpl.exe is malicious. The practical conclusion is narrower: the filename identifies an ALLPlayer setup program, while the exact file and installer behavior determine whether it is acceptable on your PC.

As an optional shortcut after the manual checks, Outbyte PC Repair can look for more than 100 common Windows issues where possible, adjust settings that affect CPU, RAM and disk load, clean temporary and cache files, provide privacy and vulnerability checks, and keep an app-crash log. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7, includes a free trial by category of at least two days and then requires a subscription; it complements antivirus protection and cannot repair every crash.

Frequently asked questions

Can a clean Defender result guarantee the installer is safe?

No. A scan describes the file examined at that moment, while another same-named download can have a different hash or bundled offers. Source verification and the installer’s behavior remain necessary.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where should I report a suspicious copy?

Keep the exact file, its hash and its original path, then use Microsoft’s malware-submission process or your organization’s security channel. Reporting the sample is more useful than replacing it with an unverified download.

Will deleting the installer remove ALLPlayer?

Usually not. The installer and the installed application are separate; remove the application from Windows Settings when you want ALLPlayer gone, then delete the leftover setup file.
