Is bfme.exe safe?
A copy in the expected BFME installation directory is plausible, but a filename cannot establish safety. Verify the path, how the file arrived, and what a current security scan reports before allowing it to run.

Do not delete the user folder before backing it up. Removing it can erase saves, settings, and custom maps that are unrelated to the executable failure.

Can I rename bfme.exe to BFME.exe?
Changing capitalization rarely repairs a launch failure because Windows normally treats those names as the same file. The important issue is whether the shortcut, patch, or mod expects a particular executable path; follow that installation’s documented target instead of renaming files at random.
Will deleting Options.ini remove my saved games?
