ffutoraw.exe is most plausibly a Qualcomm flashing helper installed with Xiaomi MiFlash, not a native Windows component. Its name alone cannot prove that a particular copy is safe. Check the complete path, SHA-256 hash, digital signature and installer history before allowing it to run. Why does the name appear on a gaming PC?
MiFlash is commonly used to reinstall or repair firmware on Xiaomi phones. A gaming PC can therefore contain ffutoraw.exe if its owner has flashed a phone, used a Xiaomi service utility or installed a package that included MiFlash. Its presence is not, by itself, evidence that a game or Windows component installed it.
Is ffutoraw.exe a virus?

- Find the path. If an alert names the file, copy the location from the alert. Otherwise press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager, find a running ffutoraw.exe entry, right-click it and choose Open file location. In File Explorer, hold Shift, right-click the file and choose Copy as path. - Review Properties. Right-click the file, select Properties, and note the General tab’s location and size. Open Details and record product name, file description, publisher and version. On Digital Signatures, select each signer, choose Details, and confirm that Windows reports a valid signature and certificate chain.

What should I do with a current Defender alert?
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.

After preserving the path, hash, signature and MiFlash installer details, use Microsoft’s malware-sample submission route to report a file that appears to be incorrectly detected. Do not restore or whitelist the file first unless you understand the risk and have independently verified the exact hash. A false-positive report should describe the specific binary, not make a general claim that every ffutoraw.exe is safe.
Can I delete ffutoraw.exe?
Do not delete it blindly. If it is the copy inside a working MiFlash installation, removing it can make firmware flashing fail or leave the installation incomplete. When is removal reasonable?
- The file is outside any trusted MiFlash installation and its provenance cannot be established.
- Its hash or signature conflicts with the installer you trust.
- Defender or another reputable scanner continues to detect it after definitions are updated.
- You no longer need MiFlash and have confirmed that no Xiaomi flashing workflow depends on the installation.
Before removing a legitimate installation, uninstall MiFlash through Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Apps & features on some Windows 10 builds), then delete only leftover folders after checking that no phone-service tool needs them. Obtain MiFlash from a trusted Xiaomi distribution, not a site offering a single replacement executable. Uninstall the existing package, restart Windows, install the complete package with the required permissions, and confirm that the Qualcomm fh_loader directory and ffutoraw.exe are present afterward. A lone executable downloaded from a DLL or “missing file” site can be tampered with and may not match the other MiFlash components.

4. Check permissions and folder access
Install or extract MiFlash to a normal local folder rather than a temporary archive location or a network share. If the program reports access denied, right-click the MiFlash shortcut and choose Run as administrator for that session. Avoid permanently disabling Defender or lowering User Account Control to get past an error.
5. Reconnect the phone and verify the driver separately
Power-cycle the phone, use a known-good USB cable and connect directly to the computer instead of through an unpowered hub. 6. Stop if security symptoms persist
