livetuner2.exe is normally the Live-Tuner component of Ashampoo WinOptimizer, not a core Windows file. Ashampoo’s manual says Live-Tuner adjusts process priorities to speed application launches. A copy installed intentionally under an Ashampoo program directory and signed by Ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG is consistent with the legitimate component, but a filename alone cannot prove safety.
Reputation is hash-specific: reviewed records include both PUP.WinOptimizer and Undefined classifications. Before allowing or deleting the file, check its complete path, digital signer, hash, size and installation context. Live-Tuner is therefore best understood as an optional performance feature rather than a Windows service that every PC needs. If you never installed WinOptimizer, there is no normal Windows requirement for this executable to exist. If you did install it, the startup process may be present specifically so priority adjustments are ready when another application opens. Removing the feature is generally a software-management decision, not a Windows repair requirement.
Is livetuner2.exe safe or malware?

ThreatInfo records demonstrate why reputation must be tied to a hash. One 2023 sample was 6 MB (MD5 00f07045e15a828791961fb784496226; latest analysis March 21, 2023), and a 2024 sample was 3 MB (MD5 ad9898244b3fb60e5b9c7648e971d5b5; latest analysis October 30, 2024). A separate record analyzed January 6, 2026 (MD5 ba8ec8c6b28c91543c88483e2489a8c7) was marked Undefined. These are individual samples, not a universal size or verdict for every installation; the reviewed records also contain PUP.WinOptimizer classifications.
The different sizes and verdicts are important. A 3 MB or 6 MB value cannot be used as a pass/fail threshold because WinOptimizer versions and packaging can change. Likewise, an Undefined result means the particular hash did not receive a definitive classification in that record; it does not certify the file as clean. Compare your own file’s complete hash, signer and path instead of searching only for the filename.
Microsoft Security Intelligence describes WinOptimizer-related bundling as software that “installs other unwanted software onto your PC.” Malwarebytes describes PUP.Optional.WinOptimizer as a system optimizer marketed by Ashampoo for Windows. A potentially unwanted classification does not by itself prove that the executable is a virus, but it is a reason to review how the program arrived and whether you still want it. If a bundled installer added WinOptimizer without a clear choice, removing the parent program is reasonable even when the executable is genuinely signed.
Why is livetuner2.exe running at startup?
Live-Tuner is designed to stay available so it can adjust process priorities when applications launch. If WinOptimizer is installed and you enabled its tuning feature, a startup entry is expected. The entry may appear even when no visible WinOptimizer window is open because its job is to remain ready in the background.

- The startup entry opens a file in the WinOptimizer/Ashampoo program directory.
- The file’s Properties dialog shows a valid Ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG signature.
- You recognize the installation and want Live-Tuner’s process-priority feature.
When startup deserves investigation
- WinOptimizer is not installed, or you never chose to install it.
- The startup command points to a temporary, system, or randomly named folder.
- The executable has no valid Ashampoo signature.
- The entry returns after WinOptimizer was uninstalled, or security software repeatedly detects it.
To stop automatic launch without removing the application, open Task Manager, select Startup apps, right-click the Live-Tuner or WinOptimizer entry and choose Disable. This changes startup behavior only; it does not uninstall the program or prove that the file is safe. If disabling the entry stops an error, keep the entry disabled while you verify the installation rather than treating the result as a security verdict.

What should I check before deleting livetuner2.exe?
Record local evidence first. Deleting an executable directly can leave an orphaned startup entry, break the parent program’s uninstaller, or remove evidence needed to identify a suspicious copy.
- Open the file location. In Task Manager, right-click the running process and choose Open file location. Copy the complete path, including the drive letter and every folder. A path under an Ashampoo directory is materially different from a similarly named file in a temporary or user-profile folder.
- Check the file properties. Right-click the file, choose Properties, and note the size, creation and modification dates, Product name, Company and Digital Signatures tab. Open the signature details and confirm that Windows reports a valid signature from Ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG.
- Calculate the hash. In PowerShell, run
Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 "C:fullpathlivetuner2.exe", replacing the path with your recorded location. Save the resulting SHA-256 value for comparison with a trusted installation or scanner report. Hashes are more useful than a filename because even a one-byte change produces a different value. - Identify the parent program. Check Settings > Apps > Installed apps and Control Panel > Programs and Features for Ashampoo WinOptimizer. If it is absent, treat the executable as unexpected until a security scan explains it.
- Record the detection, if any. Write down the security product, exact detection name and date. Different products can classify different hashes differently, so the detection name without the local hash is incomplete evidence.
Do not run an unfamiliar copy merely to see what it does. If the path, signer or installation context is inconsistent, preserve those details and scan first. If all identity clues agree with an intentionally installed copy, use WinOptimizer’s repair or uninstall process instead of deleting the executable in isolation.
How do I fix a “livetuner2.exe has stopped working” error?
Most application-level failures should be handled through WinOptimizer’s repair or removal path rather than by downloading a replacement executable. Work through these steps in order.
1. Restart Windows
Save your work and restart. A locked file, an incomplete update or a temporary conflict can clear after a reboot. If the error returns immediately, continue rather than repeatedly launching the process.
2. Try Repair or Reset when Windows offers it
Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select Ashampoo WinOptimizer, open its advanced options and use Repair if that control is available. Repair attempts to restore the existing installation without removing personal settings. If Repair is unavailable or ineffective, Reset may be offered; it restores application data to defaults and can remove the program’s stored settings. A reset is not a substitute for scanning an unexpected executable.
3. Check whether the failure is limited to startup
Disable the Live-Tuner startup entry in Task Manager, restart, and see whether Windows remains stable. If the error disappears while WinOptimizer still opens manually, the startup component or its configuration is the likely trigger. Do not use this test to approve a file that has an unexpected path or signature.
4. Reinstall only from a source you trust
If you intentionally use WinOptimizer and its files are damaged, uninstall the existing copy, restart, and reinstall using the installer obtained from Ashampoo. If you did not intend to install the optimizer, skip reinstallation and use the removal and scanning steps below. Do not download a standalone livetuner2.exe from an unofficial DLL or file-sharing site; replacing one executable can preserve the unwanted installation and introduce a modified copy.

5. Remove the parent application when repair fails
Uninstalling WinOptimizer removes the supported component and its startup registration more cleanly than deleting livetuner2.exe by hand. Use Settings > Apps > Installed apps or Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Ashampoo WinOptimizer, choose Uninstall, and restart when prompted.
How do I remove livetuner2.exe and WinOptimizer?
If you do not want WinOptimizer, remove the parent application first. The executable is part of that installation, so deleting only the file can leave settings, uninstall records or startup references behind.
- Close WinOptimizer and any process that is using Live-Tuner.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Ashampoo WinOptimizer, select the three-dot menu and choose Uninstall.
- Complete the vendor uninstaller, then restart Windows.
- If Settings does not list it, open Control Panel > Programs and Features, select WinOptimizer and choose Uninstall.
Use the normal uninstall route even when the application was bundled with another installer. It removes the registered product and gives Windows a chance to clean its startup configuration. After rebooting, check Installed apps and Task Manager rather than assuming that the absence of a desktop shortcut means every component is gone.
What if uninstall is blocked or fails?
Use Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter. It is intended for corrupted registry keys and incomplete installation or uninstall data that prevent a desktop program from being removed. Run the troubleshooter, choose the uninstall path, select WinOptimizer when it appears, and follow its repair instructions before trying the normal uninstall again.
If the troubleshooter does not list WinOptimizer, do not select an unrelated product simply because its name looks similar. Record the remaining file path and use a security scan to determine whether it is a leftover component or a separate program. A recurring startup entry should be traced to the program that created it, not removed by deleting arbitrary registry values.
Should I delete a leftover file manually?
Only consider manual cleanup after the parent program is gone, you have recorded the path and hash, and a scan has found no reason to preserve the file for investigation. Do not delete a file merely because its name resembles livetuner2.exe; verify the location and signer first. If a startup entry remains, disable or remove that entry after confirming which program created it.
Why does Windows or an antivirus flag livetuner2.exe?
Security products can flag WinOptimizer because some versions or bundled installers are classified as potentially unwanted programs. If the file is an expected Ashampoo installation
Do not create an exclusion immediately. First verify the complete path, signer and hash, update Windows Security, and run a scan. If the detection is a false positive, keep the detection name and hash and contact the security vendor or Ashampoo for clarification rather than weakening protection globally.

Microsoft’s description of the bundler as software that “installs other unwanted software onto your PC” explains why a warning can appear even when the file bears an Ashampoo signature. A valid signature means the file was signed by that publisher; it does not guarantee that every bundled component, installer context or behavior is desirable. Conversely, an Undefined reputation result is not a clean bill of health. Use the complete evidence set before deciding whether to allow, uninstall or quarantine.
How do I confirm the problem is resolved?
After repair, uninstall or quarantine, restart Windows and verify the result instead of relying on the disappearance of one error message.
- Task Manager no longer shows livetuner2.exe running unless you deliberately kept WinOptimizer and enabled Live-Tuner.

Will deleting livetuner2.exe remove the startup error permanently?
