Check where the file came from
- Prefer the copy installed by Steam rather than an executable obtained from a file-sharing page, an unsolicited attachment or a “missing DLL” download site.
- In Steam, open the game’s properties and use the local-files option to view the installation folder. A file found in a temporary download directory, a user profile’s roaming-data folder or an unrelated system directory deserves extra scrutiny.

- Open Windows Security or your installed antivirus product.
- Go to its protection history, quarantine or detection list and search for an entry matching

1. Update Windows
