Outersloth is an indie game fund created by Innersloth, the studio behind Among Us. It offers recoup-and-revenue-share funding to developers, says it does not seek ownership of their game IP, and describes its approach as hands-off rather than full-service publishing. Its current guidance favors unreleased premium games for PC, console, or mobile; a pitch deck with a budget and production schedule is required, while a playable build or demo is optional.

What is Outersloth?

Innersloth announced Outersloth in June 2024 after the success of Among Us and The Henry Stickmin Collection. The fund was set up to help independent developers finance games while retaining the freedom to make and ship them. Innersloth named Casey Yano of Mega Crit and another indie partner, who was unnamed at the time, among its contributors. Innersloth’s launch announcement describes the original initiative.

Outersloth is intended for developers who need money to start a game or complete one already in progress. Innersloth’s current Outersloth page describes the arrangement as recoup-and-revenue-share funding: the fund recoups its investment and receives a share of revenue under the agreed terms.

Does Outersloth take your game IP?

Innersloth says it does not want to own a developer’s game intellectual property. Its official page puts it plainly: “We don’t want to publish your game. We don’t want your IP.” That is the fund’s stated position; the rights and obligations for any particular project are governed by its signed contract, so developers should read the actual agreement carefully before accepting funding.

Outersloth also calls itself “very hands-off.” It says advice or introductions may be available, but it does not present itself as a full-service publisher and does not promise services such as marketing or localization. A developer who needs help with marketing, QA, localization, release operations, or other production work should establish separately who will provide it and whether it is contractually included.

Who and what does Outersloth currently consider?

According to its current application guidance, Outersloth mostly seeks premium games for PC, console, or mobile that have not yet been released. It says Early Access games are not considered. The fund has no fixed genre preference and says it wants projects their developers are passionate about. It excludes blockchain, web3, and AI-generated games.

The page says likely funding is between $50,000 and $2 million, while inviting pitches outside that range. This is a stated likely range, not a hard eligibility boundary, a promise of an award, or a guarantee that applications are being accepted at any particular time. Funding preferences and application instructions can change; consult the official page before preparing a submission.

How do you apply to Outersloth?

Outersloth asks applicants to send a pitch deck that identifies the game and developer or studio and includes a budget and production schedule. A playable build or demo is optional. The page also identifies useful supporting context such as social links, previous work, market research, a press kit, trailers, gameplay footage, or other material that helps explain the project.

  1. Prepare the core pitch. Include the game name, developer or studio name, budget, and production schedule in the deck.
  2. Add a build if you have one. A build or demo is optional, not a stated requirement.
  3. Include relevant supporting material. Link to prior work, social accounts, research, press materials, trailers, or gameplay footage where they help assess the project.
  4. Check the current submission instructions. Use Outersloth’s official page for the latest process and expectations. The fund says responses may be slow because its team is small.

What are Outersloth’s funding terms?

Innersloth published a complete Outersloth contract on March 9, 2026, with emails and addresses redacted, and said the release was intended to encourage transparency and more developer-friendly terms. Innersloth reported at that time that the fund had supported 24 games.

Game Developer’s March 9, 2026 report summarized terms presented by Outersloth CEO Forest Willard: a 50% recoup split, a 15% Outersloth share after recoupment, and a seven-year post-release term. The report also described platform coverage and monthly reporting requirements. These details are secondary reporting, not a substitute for the signed contract: developers should verify the definitions, scope, exceptions, and duration directly in the agreement. The official announcement linked to the contract, but its document link may require access through the host. Game Developer’s report also said the fund began with a $25 million five-year budget and had invested $19,161,040 into 24 projects, figures attributed to that outlet’s coverage of a GDC discussion.

The key comparison for a developer is not simply the percentage split. Before signing any funding deal, examine how recoupment is calculated, what revenue and platforms are covered, when the fund’s share ends, what reporting is required, and which services—if any—are guaranteed. A hands-off fund may suit a team that primarily needs financing and wants to retain control, while a full-service publisher may be a better fit when the project needs operational or marketing support; compare the actual services and contract language rather than the labels.

How large is the fund, and how competitive is it?

In its June 2025 first-year update, Innersloth said it had funded 22 games and reported a signing rate of roughly 1.4% “as of writing this post.” That percentage is a historical figure from the update, not a current acceptance rate. The same update listed four released games at that time. In March 2026, Innersloth reported 24 funded games; that total is likewise dated and should not be read as a live portfolio count.
