PokerStarsOpenGL.exe is a filename found in some historical Windows PokerStars installations, apparently connected with an OpenGL component. The name alone does not prove that a copy on your PC is genuine or malicious: safety depends on its location, digital signature, file history and a current malware scan.
Check those signals before deleting anything. A version 1.812 inventory listed it among installed files at about 64.67 KB, under a PokerStars directory commonly located in Program Files (x86). A separate historical software catalogue attributed the filename to Rational Intellectual Holdings as “Rational OpenGL Detector (Rational OpenGL Detector Client Software).” That is third-party catalogue information, not proof of the publisher or integrity of every file carrying the name today.

PokerStars’ current Windows firewall guidance lists PokerStars.exe, PokerStarsUpdate.exe, PokerStarsCommunicate.exe, PokerstarsBr.exe, PokerStarsComp.exe, Tracer.exe, xc.exe, xcw.exe and xcwxp.exe. PokerStarsOpenGL.exe is not in that current list. Therefore, do not assume that every file with this name belongs to a current PokerStars build; authenticate the individual copy on your computer.
Is PokerStarsOpenGL.exe safe or a virus?

A folder clearly belonging to the installed PokerStars program is more plausible than a random temporary directory, a browser download folder or an unexpected location under your user profile.

1. Restart the computer and network equipment
- Close PokerStars and save work in other applications.
- Restart Windows.
- Power-cycle the modem, router and any wireless access point, waiting for them to reconnect fully.

To check Windows edition, open Settings > System > About. In Settings > System > Storage, verify available disk space. 6. Update the graphics driver from an official source
OpenGL support is provided through the graphics driver and hardware. Can I delete PokerStarsOpenGL.exe?
