Use /fill <from x y z> <to x y z> tnt in Bedrock Edition, or /fill <from x y z> <to x y z> minecraft:tnt in Java Edition. The two coordinate triplets mark opposite corners of the rectangular area to fill.

The example uses relative coordinates to place TNT in a small volume around the command’s execution origin. It fills the region with TNT blocks; this syntax does not ignite them.

How the coordinates work
Enter two positions, each in x y z order. They define opposite corners of the rectangular volume, and the command fills the region between them. A tilde (~) means the execution origin on that axis; a number after it specifies an offset. For example, ~-2 is two blocks below the origin on that axis, while ~2 is two blocks above it. Permissions and edition notes
- Bedrock: Cheats must be enabled to use
/fill. Microsoft’s command list identifies its permission level as Game Directors. The documented command structure takes two positions followed by a block identifier; substitutingtntfills the region with TNT. See the Bedrock/fillreference and Bedrock command list. - Java: Use the namespaced block identifier
minecraft:tnt. Java command syntax has changed across releases; if the command does not match your version, check the in-game/help filloutput. The modern syntax is documented in the Java Edition Snapshot 25w02a notes.
Choose the fill area carefully
/fill replaces blocks across the specified region with the chosen block. Check both corners before running it, particularly in a world you want to preserve: a larger region can overwrite existing blocks and create many TNT blocks. For a straightforward fill, leave optional fill modes out of the command.
