ts3patchlauncher.exe (usually shown as TS3PatchLauncher.exe) is generally a third-party launcher component for patched or modded installations of The Sims 3. Mod The Sims documentation places it in the game’s GameBin folder and says the launcher calls it automatically when ASI modifications are enabled. It is not a Windows system file, and the filename is not documented as an official TeamSpeak executable.
The name alone cannot prove that a copy is safe. A file installed with a Sims 3 launcher mod from a source you trust, in the expected game folder, is consistent with its documented use. A copy that arrived unexpectedly, came from a random executable-download site, or lives in an unrelated folder should be treated as untrusted until you check its origin, signature and scan results.

What is ts3patchlauncher.exe?
ts3patchlauncher.exe is the executable used by some third-party Sims 3 patch and launcher tools. The documented package from LD’s Sims3Launcher tells users to extract the launcher into the base-game installation directory and replace Sims3Launcher.exe and TS3PatchLauncher.exe when those files are already present. The same instructions say not to open TS3PatchLauncher.exe manually: the launcher starts it as part of the normal game-launch process when ASI mods are enabled.
A separate Sims 3 performance guide describes the patch archive as including TS3PatchLauncher.exe and instructs players to start the game with it for the patch to take effect. Windows file names are case-insensitive, so ts3patchlauncher.exe and TS3PatchLauncher.exe refer to the same name on a normal Windows installation.

The expected location is the game’s base installation under The Sims 3GameBin. The exact parent folder varies by whether the game was installed through the EA App, Steam, optical media or another legitimate setup. Finding the file elsewhere does not automatically prove malware, but it removes an important piece of the expected provenance and warrants extra checking.
Why the name can be confused with TeamSpeak
The “TS3” prefix can look like a reference to TeamSpeak 3. Official TeamSpeak download materials list TeamSpeak 6 and TeamSpeak 3 clients, servers and software-development kits, but they do not document this filename. The file references associated with this name point to the Sims 3 modding ecosystem instead. Do not identify a file by its short name alone; use its path, publisher information and installation history.
Is ts3patchlauncher.exe safe?
There is no universal yes-or-no answer. Safety depends on where the file came from, whether you expected it, whether it is in the right Sims 3 directory, what its digital signature says and what current security scans report. A legitimate modded installation can contain the file, while a malicious program can be given the same filename.
Check the file’s provenance and path

What to do when the file is suspicious
- Do not launch it or bypass a security warning just to test the game.
- Disconnect the computer from the internet if you believe the file may have executed and you see suspicious behavior, then complete the security scans.
- Quarantine or remove the file through Windows Security if it is detected. Keep the detection name and location for troubleshooting.
- Uninstall the related Sims 3 mod or launcher using its own instructions. Do not replace the file with a copy from a random repository.
How do I fix a Sims 3 launcher that will not start?
Start by separating a launcher problem from a game-executable problem. Reboot Windows, then test the game directly with TS3W.exe in the same GameBin directory. If TS3W.exe starts the game while the launcher does not, the failure is probably in the launcher or its integration rather than in the core executable.
- Close The Sims 3 and any launcher process in Task Manager.

- Open the patch or launcher log and identify the exact filename reported as invalid.
- Do not delete files at random. Compare the reported file with the files installed by your mod and note any recent replacement or manual edit.
- Restore a clean copy from a legitimate backup, the game installer or original game media. If you use the EA App or Steam, use that platform’s repair or verification function first so it can restore files it owns.
- Retry the patch with the clean file in place.
- If the patch still fails, temporarily remove the third-party launcher or patch according to its uninstall instructions and test a vanilla installation.
Pirated copies and no-CD cracks are not supported by the documented patching guidance. Modified executables from those sources can continue to trigger invalid-file errors, and there is no supported patch fix for that setup. Use a legitimate installation instead.
How do I fix a crash after adding custom content?
Custom content can make the game crash during startup or while loading a save. The reliable isolation method is to launch without custom content, then add items back in controlled groups.
- Close the game.
- Move the custom-content files out of the folders where the game loads them, keeping them in a clearly named backup folder rather than deleting them.
- Launch The Sims 3 and test the same action that previously crashed.
- If the game now works, return content in small batches. When a batch reproduces the crash, divide that batch again until you identify the individual package or group.
- Remove the offending item, check whether its creator provides an updated version, and retest before restoring anything else.
Back up saves before changing the user-data folder. A content test should not be confused with a repair of TS3PatchLauncher.exe itself: it determines whether a package is destabilizing the game after the launcher has done its work.

- Confirm the game starts with the unmodified launcher or with
